Leggy,
Ive been up to the North West Western Australia and I checked back through my pictures and for Iron Ore, I think the one on the right is a good match..
You could go with the middle colour and then dirty it up...
Nice work!.

That's what I'm thinking, need a bit of a brown and darker red to really get the right colours for it.

Yeah this is a pretty standard look for the ore hoppers up there.

With the layout area slightly expanded David worked some magic and we've come to this plan. Other than the peninsula 'nolix' sections to join levels the rest would be relatively level (between Hughenden and Cloncurry it's rolling plains). The mainline is roughly 300' long so still a long ride....

Thoughts?

Bout time for some progress right? Layout construction will begin today but here's some photos (taken from my phone...) showing the layout space pre tidying up and moving some items.

Looking in from outside, the layout will be housed in the left hand area of the shed. To access the branchlines the car will sit on the driveway during ops running. (The division between the garage doors is the extent of where the layout will end up)

Standing about where the maroon dog bed is in the first shot, yes it needs some tidying up...

And this is standing in the far right side of the shed looking back toward the layout area. Should have more to come later today!

Leggy,
Im with Tony.
Given your location. Insulation and air conditioning are a must.
How are you going to line the shed?
Are you going to put in a timber frame and then line it with plaster or MDF?

Looking forward to the progress and book me in for a visit in 2015 on the way to or from the convention in Brisy...

See that white fan in the second shot?

It'll be a room within a room, once the main layout superstructure is in I'll be adding a 'box' around the garage door and a section to fit between the top of the layout and the roof to seal it in. A/C will be added along with the necessary insulation.

We live on 9 acres so you can park anywhere you like!

Leggy,
Sounds like a plan.. I lined my 7.5 x 6m shed with MDF and R6 insulation in the roof cavity. That keeps things nice and cool.
Re the car parking.. Sounds like a plan.. lol

Should be able to find R6 at somewhere like Mitre10 or a more 'tradesman' business?
