Hmmm...I thought that Ed's Law would allow for couple or three cars in a row having rust spots in identical locations...

Hmm... just put the decals
on upside down on one car
and sideways on another car...

Two scientists create a teleportation ray, and they try it out on a cricket. They put the cricket on one of the two teleportation pads in the room, and they turn the ray on.
The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.
"It works! It works!"

The owner of this startup is waiting for his membership to be approved. So I was asked to post this.

The new thinner film is finally in. When ordering, ask for the thinner film decals.

Then the rust streaks will be defying gravity!  I guess that is Ed's Law is in effect, anything is possible.  :D

Its less about being an "easier" method and more about being an "optional" or "alternative" one. We all don't have to use the same method to make rust. There's room for chalk, oil, acrylic, actual rust, and now decals in everyone's weathering arsenal. You don't have to use all of them, or any of them, and you sure don't have to commit to one even if Internet says so. It's ok to try new things, and to decide for yourself what you like best.

Well, that stinks...now that I already ordered/received the old school version.    :RUEffinKiddingMe:    Guess that'll teach me...

Received my order and everything looks as advertised so far.   Haven't had the chance to apply any of the decals yet, but hope to soon.  Only the one sheet, as is indicated in the description.   Only knock so far is that the sheet (presuming half of a 8.5x11 sheet but didn't measure it) is crammed into a too small ziplock-style plastic sleeve...you have to bend the decal a good bit to get it out.  And, on mine the decal was stuck to the plastic a little bit...not some huge deal, as only a thin layer of ink residue was left, but I suppose it could be depending on the variables.   I don't consider either to be anything to be alarmed about--I'm a happy customer thus far--but if the owner is indeed on here that might be something to be wary of going forward.

At first glance, just looking at the sheet and assuming very liberal application I think you could do 10 cars with one order.  Probably 15 or 20 or more if used more conservatively.  Pretty cool product, I'd say...definitely jones-ing to try it out.

Doug,

I just sent you a PM and Yes the new decal film has arrived and this film is awesome... Very thin. I tried it out a few days ago and was very impressed with every aspect of it.  I am also going through each product and fine tuning everything, if anybody has any input please let us know as we want to make the best possible product for our customers..

Thanks
Joe

I just received my order of the thick film version also. Looks like something that will fit my needs to help with weathering. The only bummer is the thick decal (Have not tried them yet). Can I trade in my thick for thin?  :D

This was just an experiment with the new decal film on a N scale hopper and I am very impressed with every aspect of the new film.

Received several sets this week and they are a brilliant idea - but way too thick to be useful to me.

They are so thick that after hours of hitting them with setting solution and drying they could still be pulled off in one piece.  I actually don't think I've ever seen a thicker decal.

Do you still have to specifically ask for thin decals???

We do have the new thinner decal paper 13 microns compared to the old 25 micron paper. Everything that we are printing now we are using the 13 micron and if you specify you want the 13 micron then that’s what we will send. I still have allot of the 25 micron in stock and as we need more stock I am printing it on the new paper.
Please keep in mind that this paper is not lacquer based paper so it will not react the same as what you are use to. The new paper however will lay down with outstanding results. I also wanted to let everybody know that the mill in which we order our film from has been working on trying to meet our demands and with this new paper we are 100% satisfied with the results and you will be to.

Thanks
Joe Steimann

Seriously, you have to ask for the thinner paper?   And if you don't know to ask, you get stuck with the thick stuff? I can under stand if bought from a dealer, but straight from the manufacture, you should get the latest and greatest. Seems a little shady. I like the idea of the product and I do plan on buying some, but man, let a brother know what's up. You could always sell the thick stuff at reduced price if you want to move old stock. But don't pass it off on those that don't know to ask.  :RUEffinKiddingMe:
