Lou Sassi's Mohawk Division for sale on eBay!

In 1993, Lou Sassi and friends built a great little double-track N scale project railroad on a hollow-core door for Model Railroader.

In 2006, I used this plan as the basis for my Juniata Division.

The 1993 original is for sale on eBay right now!  Local pickup only in Santa Rosa, CA...

I'm tempted.

Dave,
Down in the listing he says he will crate it and ship it. Probably not cheap!

Or if you want to pick it up, I know where you can get free room and board locally.  :D

Damn, even my wife is encouraging me to do this.  When the heck would I ever get out to CA to get it, though?  Hmm...  Not sure I want to know how much crating and shipping cost.

Still, wow...  Tempting.

We might be able to work out a pickup and layaway deal.  :D

You da man!

Given that it comes with rolling stock and vehicles, I wonder what the reserve is.  I'll have to decide what my top bid will be and how this all rolls into my nomadic lifestyle.

That said, Eric, if it seems like something you would want to keep the Transcon PRR company, I would be just as happy to see another a$$hat buy it.

Not sure I can move this PLUS Jacob's layout and the JD each move time.

No competition here. I've got enough on my hands with the Pennsy and myriad of ideas for Free-moN modules.

As much as I would love the excuse to have you visit, I do have to ask, what is the attraction for you?

The attraction?  I don't know.

My layout seems to have a fan base that befuddles me.  I suppose having the original would not only give me a piece of MR history but allow me to remind folks that mine is NOT the original, and that Lou Sassi deserves all the credit for what the JD is.

That, and you could build your u-shaped layout more easily.

Incorrect. Your layout is your own handiwork. It may have been inspired by Lou Sassi's handiwork, but the execution (which is what elevates it to GMR status) is all yours.

I agree, Inspiration is a good term.   Actually, when looking at the MD I saw a retaining wall/factory scene that reminded me of the JD.  Ed is also correct, your handiwork sets it apart.
Being in the Salvage Business (dba Beastie Salvage Co.)  :ashat: , I am obligated to encourage you (Dave) to grab it and find a use for it.

Will there EVER be a better opportunity?
