Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

Thanks Dave. I changed the position of the Delta truck frame to create a variation.

You inverted it...deliberately?
I have to ask about the pink ballast and red track. I never saw anything like that before.

After a four month hiatus due to school I was able to get back to the layout this week. The scenery has been roughed in and a top coat of homemade sculptamold has been applied. I also roughed in some rock work on the upper level. The next step for me is to stain the rocks and somehow figure out how to paint a respectable backdrop.

Happy modeling everyone and have a good week. Maybe Tim and Andy will get off my back now? LOL!

Here are two non-Model Railroader worthy iPhone grabs of construction progress on the future home of the Juniata Division:

No pics, but a milestone this weekend.  The last of my WM hopper fleet body-mount conversions and renumbering is done!  That would be 65 of the old Roundhouse 3-bay hoppers and 105 of the Atlas fishbellies.  Now on to rebuilding the staging yard!

In theory it should.  Only thing I used from the Con-Cor car was the floor, trucks, roof, and one end.  Everything else was removed.  The only thing I might change is to leave the original glass in place and build around that.  For this one, I removed it and installed the supplied glass after being tinted.  No interior to speak of, so that's the reason for the dark glass all the way around.  Building the inspection lights was an interesting challenge.  Ended up using styren rod cut at a 45 degree ang and then shaping to fit/look like the proto pics I had.  might be a tat on the large side... not an easy build, but learned a lot for future projects.

Thanks, so looking at all the BN business car pics, looks like this one was built after the merger.  So be a pass on it.  Wish they would do a side with all the windows at one level...there are 2 cars in BN that way.  Plus another with on one side of the center doors the enlarged windows and other side is the 2 rows.

That's how this car side was actually produced.  The guy I did this for made the CAD drawing for it and sent it to Union Station for cutting.  They now have it up on their site for sale.  What I don't know is if or what they might charge you for submitting a project.

Didn't do much modeling this weekend, but I did meet up with Lemosteam for some corned beef sandwiches and a LHS tour.
Plans are now in motion to build a PRR type 103 combination depot as well as UN "tower" and and some tool sheds.

We came up with some creative solutions for scale limitations. We talked about scratch-building our own windows using a stiff, painted thread for the mullions...using very thing masking tape, even pinstripping, in places. We couldn't find plastic or wood thin enough. Sounds like we can tape, seal, and paint. The model itself will be card stock with basswood glued on the faces.
