Ah, that looks like it'll mate perfectly with the Bachmann EZ-Mate boxing glove coupler!  :D

Yeah, that was funny. It only got a chuckle out of me (only because I already saw that image used several months ago in another TRW coupler-themed thread).  I did LOL first time I saw it.  It makes me think of an X-rated activity.  :D

Leave it to Peteski to take it there.

Test shots of the coupler look great but unfortunately the spring as designed does not work as intended. A redesign could not be implemented in time for the Hornby Arnold U25C but I hope it can be worked out for their next new N Scale locomotive.

Thanks for the explanation Charlie. Too bad that there was a setback, but it is good to know that the project is not abandoned.

Does this imply that the spring (knuckle spring I assume) will be molded out of plastic?

Guilty. I reused it from another thread a while back...I wanna say Dave V. coined the phrase "Protofist."

I always thought that the Arnold/Hornby coupler was different from the Charlie Vlk coupler.

Wasn't NZT supposed to make the Charlie Vlk coupler?

The NZT was and maybe is s still all David K Smith. He and Charlie may well have traded ideas at some distant point but they were independent designs.

David and I did talk but neither of the designs were impacted by our discussion.
My design was implemented by Hornby.
The problem is that the metal spring is both too stiff to provide centering action and still allow opening for coupling and uncoupling, yet it is too delicate for factory or home installation
I want to avoid a plastic spring but that may be the only practical solution in the end.
Back to the drawing board!!!

Not quite - there was a duplication of brand names, For the full discussion see: https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=31956.0

Philip,
I pointed him to that thread because it explains the confusion of both couplers having the same brand name for a brief period of time.  I suspect that is when the misinformation originated.  This was not explained in either of the above answers.

Is that ok?  :)

Do we have any status update on whether DKS will get to make, license or perhaps sell on his coupler design.
