ATSF 3800

Loren Perry, Otto, Bob Diepenbrock and I started this project over a year ago.  Currently Otto, Loren and I are building the 3800 class 2-10-2 using my castings.  These engine have never been made in n scale.  The engine is built on a stretched Kato Mikado frame. There are a few things I would like to changed but I am now afraid of ruining the detail already installed.

Here is my progress, the engine is basically done.  Time to build the tender

Jason,

Otto had hinted to me about the project, and it's good to see progress photos. Please, keep them coming! :)

Cheers!

Most excellent!! so fine to see a model of the Santa Fe's "santa fe" engines that were the backbone of freight power for nearly a quarter century. Thanks for posting Jason.

I am not a steam modeler, but I sure can appreciate fine work. The casting looks very crisp.

As usual, Jason is leaving the rest of us in his dust.... He's close to completing the loco while I'm still dicking around with the tender... :x  Very very nice Jason, and you continue to amaze me with your speed and productivity; sez who the hare never wins?
Congrats on another fine and unique model.
Regards, Otto K.

Looks good, Jason.  I like the ginger spindly little ladders by the valve slider.

Hey Thanks Max and Otto,

But Otto, at the same time you are building a RAILROAD EMPIRE.

No slowing down :D  Here is the engine painted and decaled.  Finally assembly and a few other details are waiting for paint to dry.

Beautiful sight for this ATSF fan!!! Impressive workmanship on a model of the engines that moved a huge portion of the tonnage on the Santa Fe for nearly a quarter century.

Jason, it looks great!   It looks to me like you did a lot of clean-up on the casting, especially on things like the trailing truck frame,
and boiler details and walkways.  Did you?  Or is it just my imagination?   It could be that all that white plastic just
makes things look less clean.  I know from my own experiences that white plastic is very hard to work with as far
as seeing what's really there.

Where did that tender come from?

Looks really really nice.
