Though the SLA/SLQ does not mention the MMA as a connection, there appears to be a direct connection between them at Lennoxville. They'd seem the logical choice to be the designated operator west of Megantic.

Maybe they should add all the people in the Maritimes that buy fuel from Irving to the list of those liable.

Maybe add CN to the list, too. After all, they shared the same gauge.

This was in the local paper here, it is a tough challenge legally as it has to be proved that CP knowingly handed over the train the train to MMA and that it would be handled in an improper manner.

The MMA has had their certificate to operate in Canada extended until October 1st... found insurance money.

All things being equal, the mislabeling isn't really an issue in this accident since the first responders probably knew there were super flammable contents when they arrived. I get it that it's a failure to follow the rules, but in no way would it have prevented this.

It was classified as least flammable when it wasn't and places Irving Oil on the hook the for the lawsuit they are trying to get out of.
