Only reason why those colors are being done is that they are popular with model plane and ships builders. I use some of those for weathering, ect.

Exactly. The MR specific colors are really only useful to us. The dirt, concrete, mud, etc are appealing to a much broader group. Testors has done their homework on this and they know what products generate their expected revenue and which ones don't. They're moving the cherries to a more popular line where they'll have even broader appeal, and dumping the losers. Nothing personal, Just business.

The single solitary color of interest to me from Testors (outside of the moribund Floquil line) is Light Aircraft Grey. It has been for me the ideal color for concrete, given that any paint bearing the name 'concrete' is usually not worth the jar it comes in as a useful concrete color. I will miss a number of Floquil colors, so I'll just start stocking up on grimy black, weathered black, etc. For the rest, I've already begun migrating over to Tamyia.

I guess I'm just a rank amateur, but I've only used Floquil and Polly Scale  on widely scattered occasions.   I've been able to get most of what I need out of a big ole rattle can of cheap primers, flat black, and flat white.  Touch ups, washes and colors come from the cheap craft acrylic paints available at Wally World or Ben Franklin.

I know the precision paint guys will get into all kinds of discussion of viscosity and pigment and finishes, but I'll politely demur to the 3' rule...  I've had no complaints thus far... but I like to model black diesels...

It's been gone from NJ and PA (I've actually looked at every WalMart I have been near) for a few years now.

It was amazing stuff - obviously thinned down to keep it cheap, it was the near ideal consistency and a perfect RR oxide red.

Guys, I've used both Polly Scale and Floquil with great results, but also remember they are not the only game in town. I've also used ScaleCoat and ScaleCoat II with great success. http://www.weavermodels.com/page7.html  I've also used Badger's Accu-Flex, but have not yet tried the new ModelFlex http://www.badgerairbrush.com/modelflex_3.asp. One last option for railroad colors is a new company in town, Tru-Color Paint. http://www.trucolorpaint.com/  I do hate to see Testors discontinue Floquil and Polly Scale paints as they have been my first choice for model railroad paint, but at least we still have options

I can see a pint of DGLE being made soon. SPFs delight.

No big help for the SPF,  no Brunswick Green (DGLE) or Zinc Chrome Primer (FCR).

I heard Scalecoat II has a better DGLE, but yeah, aside from Zinc Chromate, nothing really helps us out anyways. We will still have to mix most of our paints anyways. It'll just be a matter of finding out what new colors to mix.
I mean, Pennsy Maroon was wrong, Pennsy Green was wrong, right?
It's the oxide red, boxcar red, all those brick shades, and weathering paints I'll miss the most.

Boxcar red and zinc chromate make a fine match for MTL Tuscan IMO

Just paint it black and hope there is at least one cloud in the sky. NOBODY WILL NOTICE! AHAHA!

What about rail brown??  Do they expect us to paint ties but not rails?
