I ordered TRACKSIDE ON THE PENNSYLVANIA — VOL. 1&2 STRUCTURES OF THE STANDARD RAILROAD OF THE WORLD. I have plans to build some sheds and depots! Got both of them for $20!

Also ordered COMPANY SERVICE CARS OF THE PW&B, PB&W, AND PRR because of my obsession with MOW stuff.

As the weather gets better and better, and a I continue to try to get unpacked in my new house, I really have not had any time for train in a few weeks. This last week I had my daughter for spring break, for the first time in a year, But she's leaving to go back to her mothers on easter sunday. :( Something tells me I'm going to need my trains....

+12 on the MOW stuff. I'm thinking about making an MOW train but painted up for New Jersey Southern (N-Trak) although taking ques from the Pennsy.

Spent some time experimenting with my Silhouette cutter, working on my Kankakee station model.

I stuck some random walls together with masking tape, to make a rectangular "building" as a test:



Two lessons learned. First, I'll probably have to go with styrene or acetate for the "mullions" layer, as the cardstock doesn't work consistently with 2-scale-inch-wide lines. Second, I don't think the fact that the mortar lines are "flat" is going to make any practical difference. :)

I wanted to come up with a unique load for one of my flat cars.  After many trials and a lot more errors, this is the result.  I took measurements from our full-size Escape 19 and built these two.  Each is about an inch long.   I slipped a photo taken at the actual overpass location in behind for more effect.  A bit skewed but it conveys the right perspective.

In regards to the flat car, what kit is it or did you scratch build it?

I had nice long talk with John Frantz last night and he recommended that book to me. He said it gives specific date on not just consists, but the lives OF the cars themselves. We also talked about "the N scale shiny effect." I think a lot of HO modelers think many N scalers are monsters  :P

Not much modelling for me of late, but this week I did an outstanding job of credit card deployment and received my long awaited HO scale CP Rail Action Red Canadian from Rapido Trains....   it's gorgeous!   Now I just need to find a really large HO layout to take it for a spin.    This train doesn't really fit for me in terms of era, scale, country... anything...  but it was just so beautifully done by Rapido I wanted to own one.  Toying with the idea of printing some decals to overlay the "CP Rail" with "AmRoad"....  :)

Also got another 70+ cars converted to FVM metal wheels, for a total of over 145.  Only about two dozen pizza cutters left to replace.

Going to have to start boiling super trees this week.  Going to need more clothes pins.

Somewhere in PRR land.  Baltimore, Philly, or Jersey City. 

Here is a small diarama I am working on to bring to the PRRT&HS annual meeting.  It is a small industrial street scene setting to feature the Shapeways PRR rubber-tired switcher.  Complete with cobble street.

I casually added another deck to the layout ..a clear sign I have too much time on my hands.   

It is not on the trackplan so I don't have to reveal what it is other than 'a remote location 160 miles south of Fort Nelson'



Also started working on sections of a computer generated backdrop suitable for the 25 linear feet of backwoods that will line this location.
