I took this on Presidents' Day -- Feb. 18. It is a southbound New England Central freight crossing the Connecticut River from Vermont into New Hampshire.

Via crossing the Salmon River in a wonderful setting to while away a few hours watching trains:

Freight passing through Napanee, Ontario. A quaint little town where at one time the Grand Trunk and Canadian Northern mains between Toronto and Montreal crossed:

Just down the road from me.  The bridge in Napanee is pretty nice too.  Next time you are up this way, give me a holler.

Ex-Minnesota Zephyr Diner Train cars sitting in the UP North Yard in Denver waiting to head to Pueblo and then onto Alamosa.  I'm hoping to get a heads up on when they leave Denver to catch them in Springs.

Wonder why they put the cars on flats instead of carrying the cars on their own wheels?

If N scale had good SD40-2s, C30-7s, U30Cs, SD45s, SD40s, and SW10s; I'd be in N scale.

I don't know for sure, but I suspect it's in part because the cars were originally trucked off property and stored for a while. There are two 89' flats that have all the wheels but I read they were held up due to a load shift.

CN recently acquired 150 new bulkhead flatcars from Freightcar America for oil well pipe service. I saw a string of about two dozen of them being delivered on a CN freight on Good Friday:

Heading the opposite direction were 4 brand new autoracks from National Steel Car:

Another train had a loaded set of CWR cars with TYOX reporting marks:

These cars used to be V-deck pulpwood cars. Looks like someone out east is gearing up for some spring maintenance. Maybe some of you rr guys with trace access can figure out where they're going. Might be some of you New England guys that are getting this.

Thinking of heading out there in the autumn... otherwise the only way I'll head out there is if I'm chasing something unexpected!
