I don't think the point of the OP was to sell the castings.  I think he is doing this to populate his own Autoracks.  No harm in that.  I appreciate him taking the time to illustrate the technique for those that may want to do the same.

So of course, everybody that's ever had a 70's Pinto, Gremlin, Chevette, Opel or Vega wants to recreate the memories!

NO NO, please! I want to forget about that Vega for as long as I live!!!!!!!

Many of the muscle cars are out there in resin.   But you know, visitors don't necessarily know trains.  EVERYBODY knows cars.  I've had more reaction to my '62 Corvette pulled over by the Route 66 Winslow sign than just about anything else.  And the VW bugs and busses.  So any way to put some of the classics that people recognize to establish the era??

Oh yeah.  This is cool.  This is worth it.

For sure. An auto rack full of Gremlins or Pintos would set the era so solidly that nobody would have to ask "oh wow this is nice, what era are you modeling?" :D

I suppose I would need a gaggle of Granadas and K-cars. I'm just glad my focus will be on the trains! :scared:

Sheesh, I guess I'm the Boring Car Guy around here... :P

Since I moved away from home and had to start paying for my own cars, I've had:

1984 Dodge Omni (took over payments from Mom)
1988 Dodge Omni
1994 Olds Cutlass Ciera
1999 Buick Century
2005 Buick Rendezvous (current)

And I'm pretty sure that none of these have ever been available in N scale. :(

You guys don't know what a crappy first car really is.
Mine was a 1959 Studebaker Lark, 6-cyl., 3-speed on the column, bench seats, AM radio.

I recall trading it in for scrap value of $10 on my second car -- actually, I had to drive it to the dealer in first gear, because the synchronizers for second and third were totally shot...

The radiator leaked.
So did the hoses.

But it wasn't burning oil!
Regards,
Paul

85 Buick Century Wagon. The Orgasmobile!!

When it gave its life saving mine, I replaced it with a 90 Volvo 240, then a 99 Volvo V70GLT, and finally my 2012 Mazda 3.

Yea, they're "railing" their past automotive experiences.

Geesh, Where Do I start? I got my first car ar 14 from my grandfather. So here's my list up to now:
1966 Ford F100 long box (Sold to a collector)
1972 AMC Hornet Stationwagon (More rust than metal on that one, Sold for scrap)
1986 Buick Skylark 4 door (went though 2 motors, Traded on Neon)
1995 Dodge Neon ARC 4 door (2 motors, 2 trannys later, and almost 300K on the clock, It gave up, Traded on the Jeep)
2000 Jeep Wrangler (Still got it, Drove across the country after getting out of the army, Pulling a trailer.)
2004 Mistubushi Lancer ES (Lost in first Divorce)
2005 Toyota Matrix XRS (Still got it, aquired in 2nd divorce)
1991 BMW E30 316i 4 door (German Hooptie, 2nd ex wife blew the motor, Installed Junk yard motor, sold)
2010 Mini Cooper Clubman S (Lost in 2nd divorce)

Out of all those, I wish I would have kept the F100, that thing had the factory 352, witch was orginal from the bolt on the air filter to the bolt on the oil pan. No rust, and low miles.

If any of them were offered in N scale, eventhough they are all out of my era, I would buy them, and find a way to use them on a layout.

How about a '67 longbed?

One of the beauties of contemporary modeling is that you can have relics--as long as you don't have an unrealistic amount out there on your highways. I've seen way too many of those Mini Metals '50s Internationals pulling trailers on modern layouts, it's ridiculous. There's always room for old clunkers or restored classics, just remember: moderation.
