I have a better trade a brass H10! 

Not with a box-of-bits on my workbench waiting eagerly for a b-mann chassis to finally arrive. 

Although... a K4 doesn't exactly have much of a place in my fleet, other than for short 12 car "turns" if a decoder ever gets to find a home inside its tender...

I always have room for one more K4 and my dad has been able to installing decoders in tight places such as brass tenders and diesels

But the brass H10 is unbeatified

The first time in the history of spoken word someone has said "no" to an N scale K4.

I didn't say No to it. I shelled out what was supposed to be my Atlas S-2 money for it.
I figured if anything it would be a nice gap filler in my fleet until I get my H10 built.

I love how it looks when compared to those of minitrix fame. Brass seems to have more of the hunched-shoulders look than plastic.

Only reason I'm considering letting it move on is because apparently something may be out of quarter and there is no way in hell I'm taking it apart and risking it becoming yet another box of loco bits never to see rails again... like my Farish BR Class 04.

I'm a long-freight type of SPF and a K4 only ever pulled as much as a 15 car freight train, called a "Turn" by the Pennsy.

They usually pulled freights after outshopping to make sure everythig was working.

At the very end of steam, K4s could occasionally be seen on branch lines doing very meanial work they were not ideally suited for.  They also snapped on Horseshoe Curve, and presumably not just on passenger or mail/express.

Actually, freight trains that needed to get somewhere quick and there was no available M1 would usually use double headed K4s. This was until the Depression and surplus locos were used instead. There is a picture of a single K2 pulling the Man o' War in 1925 in a Keystone issue I have.

An issue of MR from one or two years ago had a short article in the section where folks ask questions. The question had to do with K4s pulling freights and the "response" that MR published said that K4s were used on short freights (no more than 15 cars) after having just been uncoupled from a passenger train. The details of why it was called a "turn" I cannot remember, but I shall try and dig up the article tonight.
