help with Kato Kobo mikado

hello.  i recently acquired a kato mikado kobo anniversary edition with dcc, firebox flicker and remote rear coupler.  having some problems with the flicker and coupler.  anyone have any experience with these rare editions?

the firebox light flickers nicely, but it's too white.  i think that a colored cover/lens may be out of place, because i can see an orangish color from certain angles, but mostly i'm seeing bright white.

the remote coupler doesn't seem to respond at all.  there is no rear red light indicator, so i suspect that the secondary decoder in the tender that controls the coupler function may not be getting any signal in the first place.  also, the wires around the coupler look loose/unconnected.  but, because nothing is happening and the wires don't move, i have no way of knowing if there is a mechanical problem with the wires/coupler itself.

any help appreciated.

Ok I've got to say it:

My Kato Kobo Mikado's Couplers Can't Keep Cars Connected Correctly on Concave Curves!

I'm sorry, I'm so sorry!!!!  And welcome to Railwire -  I know someone here will really have an answer! :)

If you are in the USA, I suggest you call Kato USA and discuss this problem with them.
I currently have two GS-4 locomotives there for repair; I have been very satisfied with their repair services.
I had a problem with a Mikado when I had attempted to change the tender; I sent it to them because they told
me about the draw bar harness differing from one run to the next.
Worth at call.
