L90 Log Loader

One of the things I am trying to figure out is how many people will commit to buying one if WoT decides to make this. So far, I have about 20 spoken for. I have a thread on trainboard that I asked how many people were interested and also e mailed people I personally know within the hobby. I have only been working on this with WoT for about a week now. I figure if I can get say 100 spoken for, that maybe they will decide to make this model.

I would think so too Bryan, but I am not getting nearly as much traction on this on trainboard as I would think, if that would be the case. I really hope that I can get WoT to at least produce the grapples seperately. If not, I guess I might be going into the resin casting business. And if that is the case, you will more than likely see other lumber related things that I am working on currently like 40ft chip trailers, chip bunkers, and a trailer loader in the future.

Having already scratch built one set of forks, I suppose I would buy one from WoT, Provided that it was positionable. I did not make the hydraulics on the grapple functional on my model. The hydraulic ram is soldiered brass tube. The Grapple can be positioned open and I can insert a different brass tube to hold it open statically. This was so logs don't fall out of the forks when I load it up. I

I finally painted the forks and have some LED's installed. I still need to add an LED floodlight for the rear. I have a TF4 Digitrax decoder to run the lighting off the DCC system. I hadn't really thought about the decoder when I set out to add lighting and I used a minitronics flasher unit, instead of using the lighting effects in the decoder. If I did it again, maybe when I get the WoT one, I will use an LED for the roof beacon instead of a grain of rice lamp and use the FX in the decoder.

Finished model looks GREAT!!!!! I was thinking of making the hydraulic rams out of styrene or brass tube with a brass tube in the center to make the ram able to move. I like the diversity of being able to have the grapples opened or closed.

I dont model DCC so a decoder to me would not be needed. However, I would use a MV lens or something to simulate the lights. Maybe even an actual LED that was attached to some type of power source.

As far as a beacon. You do know that Ngeneering makes an actual working beacon dont you? Here is there website.

I have a WoT for the Boston and Maine for intermodal operations, that being said if they did produce the logging version of the model I would by one for my freelanced sawmill operation.

count me in for one if WoT release complete units - their intermodal loaders look fantastic but I didn't have a need to buy any, and I'll want something to attach to the back of those claws

A completed model would be fine with me.  Depending on finances I may have to limit myself to two, but I doubt the conversions would be cheap.  I'd still have to buy a full Piggy-Packer to go with the extras, as I only have one, so that's probably a wash.  If three are too expensive, I do have a GHQ knuckle-boom loader for my third site.  And, of course, I may actually have the money for three, depending on when they come out.

Too modern for me...

Need some smaller, sixties - early eighties era L60 chassis (i.e., like the chassis that were used on N Scale of Nevada's 1960s era Piggy Packers) Lumberjack models.

Actually, the L60 would be more in my era, but the logs in my region are big enough to use the L90.  And I'll settle for a slightly too modern loader over none at all...
