CGW 201 was one of two ex Hiawatha coaches purchased from the Milwaukee Road.

Started bending the handrails for the M420. Completed one (sans stanchions) and then mostly drank for the balance of the week. Very painstaking effort, very tedious task. I actually stated cleaning the parts for another M420 in lieu of revisiting the handrails for a while.

I had four more chassis I bought off the Bay arrive this week, so I've been playing with them. They have the slow speed motors, so I just might be transplanting them into the three chassis I've finished thus far, all of which have the 'Randy Marsh pine-wood derby motor' in them. At present I have eight chassis and five kits, so I don't need all the chassis (unless I buy more M420's, which I very likely may).

Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

I'd now offer a motion that Weekend Update is hereby closed for the week.  Seriously Bill, how do you expect the rest of us to follow that?  Sheesh.

Well; I am NOT trying to "follow "Jedi Passenger Master Denton" but, I also worked on some human movement vehicles this week (my timing sucks)...

As seen in another threatd I foobied a MT 3-2 Observation into a "rear section almost right - rest of it not" version of the CPR's "Fort William"... (and proved you can reverse the rear truck and run the car - I should get points for that - right ?)

But, all was not lost.... while researching the Fort car I came across something I'd been looking into for months.... The CPR did have paired window coaches.... not many but.....

I can't post the proto pic (because I scooped it off of EBay) but the plan is available on the CPSIG site... you'll have to trust me...(what a comment eh ?)....

The CPR has a small series of coaches that almost match the MT coach (the bathroom window is off by 2 scale feet, like I care) 2400 - 2412.... I emailed Joe D and then went at one.....................

This kicks the stuffing out of the major foob's I had from Riversossi and Model Power and runs like a dream with the FVM wheels installed.....

Two more to go; I love it whne a "proto plan" comes together......

Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

Oopsie!  :o  I really didn't think it was that note worthy. I was going to post another project but maybe I should hold off. I don't want to be responsible for shutting down the forum

I've been hacking off the last original section of my 3' x4' layout that expanded to 4.5 x 12.  It was based on a plan from an old RMC, and that part of the main was still 9 3/4", and a steep branch up to the coal mine of who knows what radius and about a 5% grade.  Every thing went through rock cuts, and I hated the idea of doing that all over again.

The before:

The aftermath:

I added about 14" more onto the end and was able to draw in a 16" r for the main, and a 13" r for the branch line with a reduction in the grade by a %.  Empties go up, coal down.  Cut out a new ramp out of luan on the band saw and hope to have the track gang in tomorrow night.

I'd call that D scale, as in Diabetes.

FEF#827 has been painted and is out on its first revenue run.  Up Sherman Hill the FEF has to apply plenty of sand.
