Thanks Ian. I have yet to pull the trigger on using the Silhouette to scribe bricks. Cinder blocks are as small as I go. The brick sheet was off eBay from wehonest_cn. It was a good deal, with 4 -A4 size sheets for $10. The size and shape are great, but unfortunately they aren't selling it right now. I sent an inquiry and got an answer a couple hours later that said it was too much trouble cutting and packaging the sheet. Hard to believe, but that is what they said. Here is a closeup of the bricks as also seen in the Mortar or not thread.



I did use the Silhouette to cut the concrete frame structure. I did is out of .010 and it sliced through it like butter. I really love the digital cutter.

Heck roll it up and ship in a tube.

Maybe we should all contact that seller asking for those brick sheets? They might get the hint that there is a market for them.

Hmmm, considering I want to model something akin to the Wilklins Rogers (Washington Flour) mill in Ellicott City - http://www.flickr.com/photos/americanrivers/3513450604/sizes/o/in/photostream/ - it may be time to pull the trigger on buying a Silhouette.  It will involve the same sort of concrete structure and intricate industrial windows.

No pics this week.  I spent more time testing the new track with a variety of long and short cars - the Bluford 86' autobox is actually a pretty good turnout problem detector.  Still need to clean the track, but it's all working well.

I started laying a major scenic feature - U.S. Highway 61, which is known in Baton Rouge as Scenic Highway (even though it originates downtown within the Large Exxon Refinery).  It's 4 lane divided up in the part of the parish I'm modeling, so it will be rather substantial.  I've also got my version of the Hard Hat laid out (banner printed) and I spent some time on this website

making road signs.  Finally, I am doing a BLair Line laser cut wood modern billboard - the BLMA one is too big for the space, and i bought this one years ago.  We'll see how it takes paint.

No pics for me but I took my daughter to the Burlington County Model Railroad open house. They're rebuilding a part of it, again, so there wasn't a whole lot to see. Ed and I also bantered back and forth on potential layout designs for me,

'Twas a busy weekend: on Saturday I set up all my modules in my garage to 1) troubleshoot, 2) see it if fit in my garage (a "California Basement") and 3) run trains!
Only took about a kabillion hours to get everything going, but once it did...!

we set up in the Boy Scout headquarters in San Leandro for the NMRA PCR meet.
Funky space in an awkwardly-angled atrium, but nice rockclimbing wall backdrop:

The whole layout was all my modules plus Scott's Moss Beach 2'x4' and Eric's "DCC/JMRI-in-a-Box" command station, but many members (and non) brought trains and iPhones, so it was a rock 'n rolling train day for all!

Ahhhh so that's what that is!  I was in Ellicott City for dinner this past Friday night and didn't know what that building is....I'm assuming it's still used as it was well lit (inside and out), although the tracks to it seem to be in rough shape, and I'm assuming aren't used anymore?

While enjoying a fine dinner at the Phoenix Emporium, a CSX freight with one of the new SD40-3s leading was crawling through town, as well as a genset (1324 I think) 3rd unit out.  The two other gents was with (Ed K being one of them) and I left to go catch it out at Mariottsville...we are fairly certain the genset was actually online helping to lug the train...only on CSX....
