Cisco Bridges: a new layout concept

I am quite hopeful there is a new garage in my future dedicated to my layout.  I'm hoping for 14' X 22', insulated and heated.   Might be enough space for Vancouver and the Ashcroft subdivision

Well, good news! The whole space issue has been vexing you for a while. Is this a move, or an addition?

It would be a separate building in our yard.  We have a lot of space for it and it will add value to the house, so it is a win-win.  The old train room becomes a great storage room too, which we could really use.

Still working on details and need approvals, but it looks like it could be started in the spring.  I might build it myself to get it done faster.

I put a 14' X 22' rectangle over my Vancouver waterfront design in SCARM and realized the enormity of the space.  Since it won't be used as a garage, I can block the main door and I will have full control over placement of the side entry door.  I will also need a gas wall heater and a breaker panel, but otherwise, it should be a clean slate.   

The question becomes, can I get the Cisco scene out of the basement intact...  maybe.

A bit late, but what if you altered the CP line thus:

Unfortunately that would require rebuilding the Cisco scene and I'm not inclined to to that.  I've put those plans aside and I'm working with moving a new garage for the layout forward.  If it happens, I'll have much more space.  Perhaps then entire Ashcroft Subdivision...

Ha ha, maybe.  I have a 3D lidar scan of Skoonka to print out the rock faces, scaled it would be about 4' tall and 15' long.  It would be pretty cool to do.

I was thinking about a double deck and perhaps trying to do both the CN and CP lines in the Fraser and Thompson canyons.  I'm pretty sure the Cisco scene can't leave my basement as is, so I wonder if that will force a change of theme altogether.   

An alternative idea floating around is the CN mainline from Edson to Yellowhead Pass in Alberta, with Jasper as a central division point.  The coal branch would be a fun element and there are industries at Hinton and Obed, and the branch from Grande Cache too.  It would be amazing to get a really long run to operate with and to support a variety of traffic.

The problem is all of those trees!  A lot of swamp spruce west of Edson.

Times change and the best laid plans...

My garage plan went up in a puff of smoke a week back.  I can't really complain as my wife and I get a trip to Antarctica out of it 

Since I am stuck with the space I have, I have started working on my Skoonka scene again and began to work on the rock sheds again.  I decided that I would give 3D printing a chance as I have not had any success with plaster casting. 

My first effort was this shed:



I'm printing it out locally at a service I found at 3Dhubs.  Fast turnaround and no shipping costs- I like it already!

Whilst I know the loss of the garage is disappointing, I was feeling a little sad that Cisco wasn't part of the planned operations considering all the work gone into it and the amazing result.

On the plus side, my partner raves about Antarctica and how amazing her trip there was, so much so that her parents are on their way there now. I'm sure this planned trip will be very memorable for you mate.
