Chris333, nice work on the Erie engines.  What is the heritage of of the S-1?  I'm guessing the N-2 is a Kato?

That is one good lookin MT.... Expensive engine to weather!! :scared:

Here is a pic of the ATSF 3800 class 2-10-2 I have built.  The casting has since been re-worked with increased boilet diameter.  My delay is casting a brass 2-10-2 frame to accept kato mike parts.  I have added the driver to the front to allow the casting to properly fit the mech.

Good point... however, unless recently "shopped", it will need some degree of weathering.

On the 2-10-2, brass frame sounds interesting...

SuperTurbine, thx for posting those pics of Gordon Bliss' steamers.   Superb.

To keep the momentum going, here's some N scale steamers from 8 years ago at Chantilly 2004 NTrack/NScale Convention, by GHQ's Greg Scott,
these are all scratchbuilt.

Check out the clamshell smokestack deflectors on this SP 2-10-2:

And there was a whole lineup of these scratchbuilt steamers at the clinic that Greg gave:

That's Greg on the right:

 :)

Hey John, impressive pics!! I almost drooled when I saw that SP "Deck", that thing is SPOT ON  :D
Now, IF he ever offered that as a pewter shell kit, I'd step up for a least 5.....

I feel almost guilty replying to this thread, because I haven't been able to really churn out the steam models
the way I used to in the last few years, owing to all sorts of circumstances.  But I have managed to squeeze out a few.

My (recently posted) NP G-1:

Before that, SP&S E-1 #700 converted from a Kato S-2:

And last but not least, an oldie but goodie from my PRR days.  PRR 2-10-0 I-1s, from Kato chassis with extra driver,
GHQ boiler, and scratchbuilt tender.   The engine is my work, yes, but hats off to Ed K for this photo.  Why he doesn't send it in to MR's "Trackside Photos", I'll never know!

Skipgear/Tony, what is the story on your 2-10-2?
Thanks.

It was completed a few years ago. Another 2-10-2 based on a stretched Kato Mikado. Boiler completely scratch built, tender from Concor.

My 2-10-2 was built following what Tony did. It was running laps the other day along with a gearhead motor like Max did.

Man that is sexy. Thanks for showing it. Quick question, did you do the elephant ears for it? How many Niagaras have you made? Do you sell them? :D

Hey thanks,
I have only built one.  I did the casting to allow easy conversion of a kato FEF to niagara.  The reason I have not built more is the the tender frame.  I use the athearn tender for the great power pick up and I only have a few left.  I do sell the niagara castings tho.

Ok, so I have been out of the loop for a while, and really haven't had any train time lately, but here's some of my last projects.
So you all know by now, Superturbine makes some AWESOME GS4 conversions, one of witch being the NP A4, and I was lucky enough to get a set of the castings. But a lethal combonation of my gorilla hands, and my daughter wanting to "Help" Kinda ended the boilers life. So I had to compromize. I ended up building a new everything out of brass and styrine, and butchering the orginal shell for the detail parts. Overall it didn't turn out too bad thus far.

She's pretty much at this point still, I'm waiting for parts, I need a pair of air pumps, Class lights, Rear headlight, archer rivets, and of corse for me to destroy it with my shitty paint job.
Pull testing:

Can't mention my steam projects withought my geared steam projects.

Wow delamaize!

That boiler is really looking awesome!
It is a lot of work getting that boiler profile right and I think you have nailed it.  Also, your steam pipe work under the running board looks great.  It mentioned to Loren Perry about including brackets in the stream detail kit for mounting the pipe work (the pipe work under running board, where there are 4-5 pipes) I think he is going to add it in.  Beautiful work and the cab looks really good also.
