A 1st Look At Atlas' New N-Scale 4-4-0 Steam Locomotive

Seem to remember that MicroAce used SandaKan as manufacturer;IE for their Porter Mogul Atlas sold.
Since Kader took over SK,it seems "highly unlikely" that is the source of the Atlas loco...
Really like to know who/where it's being made....

But AFAIK, MicroAce is still pumping out new models of Japanese steam locos (regardless which actual Chinese company manufactures them) , so I suppose Atlas could have contracted them for this loco too.

If an answer is readily available, I am always willing to help.

Not only are the backs of the drivers solid metal, a rather large protrusion (likely a metal bushing that has been integrated onto the backs of the drivers) will probably preclude the complete opening up of the spaces between the spokes.

By all appearances, from the back of each driver, metal has been milled from the edge of the flanges to a depth of approximately .090 inches; rendering the aforementioned bushing towards the center of each wheel.

Given how the mechanism appears to be constructed, one would probably be better off milling out each space part of the way down, rather than all the way through.

Although Disney's theme park stores may still have the model in stock, it appears that Lowell has already sold out of his supply of Lilly Belles.

Been keeping an eye on the Disney museum's store stock inventory.

From what I have garnered from a bunch of avid Disney collectors, even if the locomotives are not (or no longer) listed on the museum's store site, the locomotives and cars were (are???) available in the theme park stores.

My plan all along has been to pop out the plastic driver center and put in a 3-4 layer etched stack like this:


But it will have to wait till I've got one in my hands to know if it can be done.

Also about the tender. It looks exactly like the 4-4-0 drawings in the steam cyclopedia.

I believe that is infinitely easier than milling, and would almost certainly produce superior results, unless one had a CNC mill with a micro-bit.

The only other alternative I can think of is to find spoked drivers from another locomotive that matches the diameter.

As an alternative, since they were already pad printing the drivers to get those little yellow stars on the axle ends, why not pad-print the spokes red on black a black plastic insert? I believe that would have been a significant improvement.

I "reserve ordered" the painted, but unlettered version of this Atlas engine from BLW, but see no evidence that the engine is in "available."

Are the 4-4-0's in that new container?  They Disney ones are supposed to be here in July.
