Close ups of the short hood? Is it rough in there near the number boards? The paint is so nice, I cant see that being a paint issue

Eric,

GMM stanchions wouldn't work here?  And steel guitar wire for the handrails and grabs?  Then there would be no worries of breaking stanchions and handrails.

Even with the thick handrails. Given a choice, thick handrails are better than nothing at all.

I decided to test fit the whole thing together.



The underbody detail is just taped there, and it's clear that the frame will have to be painted before final assembly.  As you can see, this preview cost me another handrail stanchion.     What you can't see is that it also cost me both C628 frame halves.  Fortunately, Atlas offers the frames as replacement parts, and I found the stanchion this time.  I also found out that I'm out of CAA.      Urge to kill... RISING!!!!

As requested, here's a closeup of the short hood nose.



There is some grain there, and you can still see some stepping.  As is evident in the previous photo, however, you have to know it's there and get it in just the right lighting to see it and not just dismiss it as a shadow.

I've seen more of those units in real life than I can count, and they all had one thing in common: they were all filthy. Which suggests some of the model's flaws could perhaps be mitigated by judicious weathering.

Looking good, Eric.  I received my GF6C shells yesterday and am looking forward to seeing them with the wax removed.

Also, because they're flat, you can probably sand down the most offensive ridges.

Thats what I was thinking, some small files and you can clean it up.
