I'm seeing a LOT of these today...  First doing a reply, then just clicking around.

404: Page not found
This error is generated when there was no web page with the name you specified at the web site.

Troubleshooting suggestions:

Ensure the page you are linking to exists in the correct folder.

Check your file name for case sensitivity . Index.htm is not the same as index.htm!

Temporarily disable any rewrite rules by renaming your .htaccess file if it exists.

Me, too.  Must be that pesky Trainboard virus that's getting around this week.

We do it to keep you guys on your toes. If the forum runs perfect for a while you guys slack off and have nothing to complain about so we F things up. :P

Most likely a server url track back issue. The forum is hosted on a shared server, so if some file structures change on the backend, most likely all routing tables havent updated resulting in 404 errors.

20% more 404s for the complainers.  The forum has been down a few times in the last week, due to scheduled maintenance.  Sometimes, you might see a Tony Danza-inspired message, sometimes, a 404.

I honestly don't see these with any frequency.  I do see the cache message from time to time, maybe 2 times a week. :tommann:

For me it's here: https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php

(That's the "General Discussion" link from the pulldown menu.)

That link is the same one I find. It goes to 3 different links:

There is no "N scale" "crew lounge" "layout reports" "O, OH, Z scale" and what ever others there are.

Your "General Discussion" is collapsed. Click on it to expand it to the rest of the forums.

Wow--I never noticed that button before, and it would have confused the heck out of me if I'd accidentally clicked it at some point (much as it seems to have done for Chris).

Given the work the mods have done to keep the number of forums on The Railwire manageable, collapsing the list isn't a really useful function. Disabling that function might avoid future confusion, if the forum software permits.

It is useful in some aspects. I use it occasionally. We'll leave it as is for now, I don't think this is the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and you guys need your hand held. I think you can figure it out.  ;)
