Well I would have stained before gluing and with pieces that large would have likely done so in a large metal tray with a flat bottom and weighted them while immersed and again while drying. 

At this stage, post-assembly, you are going to be staining with a brush, which may mean more than one application - however that may have the advantage of a lower tendency to warp.

Actually the bents are just positioned in the jig.  There hasn't been any gluing yet.  thx for the ideas Tim!

With the sale of our house and the purchase of our next home pending, we have a lot of stress, pressure, and to-do lists behind us.  I took advantage of the down-time today to set up a loop of Unitrack on the kitchen table, install some decoders, and make some repairs to the fleet.

I started with the brain transplants to a Seaboard System B30-7 and Seaboard Coast Line (Family Lines scheme) B23-7 that I bought within the last several months and just put away, since I have no layout.  Once I had them running, I decided to get out my Seaboard System U23Bs and have a four-loco GE fest, as I often remember the SBD trains in the early 1980s.

Since I was on a roll and I know that Atlas was supposed to be raising their parts prices soon, I pulled out an SCL SD35 that has been a problem since I bought it in 2005.  A few tweaks on it and I think I have it running- without having to buy any parts.  Yay!  I thought it needed a new truck.  Replacing the decoder in it and its sister, SCL SD35 #1910, and I now have six locomotives running on the loop.  I can't wait until I have a layout again.  This is fun!

EDIT: While the decoder bug was biting, I got out four IM F units that have been sitting, awaiting their decoders.  I had started an FP7 a few months ago, but it wasn't working right.  I fixed that SCL FP7 and decoderized its sister FP7, an RF&P FP7, and an RF&P F7B.  Now, I have an FP7, F7B, FP7, FP7 set doing laps while I'm enjoying a Sam Adams.  Nice!

OK, so i'm a noooob to this site. This weekend I haven't had time to work on N scale but I did do some 12 inch to the foot modeling. Fresh paint job on C&O wood caboose 90704.

played with grout, electric, track work on the west-end and (gulp) installation of the new trestle at Tucker is underway, but only about 10% complete, so nothing photo-worthy.  The point of the comment is with the west-end, Tucker and Virginia City all underway, we can now consider this "forward progress" and we are inching closer every day to resuming daily business.

Somebody is making an early 60's TOFC flat from the Montreal - Toronto passenger run.... been there, did that, but yours look better than mine !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Test fit my White Tower into a DPM Hilltown Hotel to see if I can get it to work.  It just might, it'll just loose a wall or two.  Got tired of trying to find/win an Amtrak Dash 8 in Ph IV or V so I ordered an undec and decals and I'll give it a go myself.  Any ideas what color matches the blue on the Ph V units?

These cars were rebuilt in the mid 1970s and used exclusively in northern Ontario, hauling copper concentrates from Ignace (west of Thunder Bay) across CP's north of Superior line to Noranda (on the Ontario/Quebec border) on the Ontario Northland Railway.

Started installing the Cripplebush Rubber Rocks around my coal mine and Tunnel # 2.  Surprised to say they are easier to install than I thought they would be.  Actually a pretty enjoyable project.

Stain can also be applied with an airbrush, which would make quick work of the snow shed.

The Cripplebush rubber rock is a great product. What you've done so far looks really good. I think blending the edges with the surrounding terrain using Sculptamold or other thick filler would make a seamless scene.

Still trying to perfect the ProJet process in regard to N scale by juggling multiple projects in the air, so I can work on the shortcomings of one while waiting for other rendered parts to arrive.

This is the framework for a Portec tri-level auto rack that will be decorated in the GTW ex-ROCK patch-out scheme.  The coupler pockets are integrated into the body.  Some minor corrections needed included the ride height by about .020" and the coupler pocket height by about .015".  A detailed etched brass outer wrapper will be applied around it, along with etched brass tri-fold doors I've used on modifying Red Caboose auto racks.  This will be part of an auto rack consist I've been working on for a couple of years.



And this ghost project from the past is the first pilot of the GM TDM 4507 intercity bus after its Bestine bath.  The wheels look incredible and the interior is good.  The digital body is fine, but the experimentation with the build orientation has begun. 



I think all the stepping can be sanded out carefully to create a good master for casting.  But the orientation will have to be altered to insure relatively smooth sides on all the flat surfaces.
