Nice.  Unfortunately, many of the earlier photos from this photographer were yanked for some reason.

Crazy, the number of Tehachapi videos that are appearing lately on youtube:

Some of these were shot just the last few weeks, and you can see the oak trees are budding to go along with the springtime green grass.   I think some of the most impressive shots on the Loop show the lead engines and the DPUs in the same frame.   You can find even more vids on youtube.

Ed

Edit:  I can only imagine how busy the Loop area will be, once the double-track goes in!  8) 8) 8)

Some of the best aerial shots yet of the new section  (jump to 2:46 if you are impatient ;) ):

I wonder how long before the track goes in....

So I see they've started trackwork now - sleepers being positioned and the rail on the ground between Tunnel 10 and Marcel.

I should see it @pastoolio can return and share his photos here....

Ok, pics it is. I was up there a little over a week ago. May 9th.

Disclaimer: I'm not real good at taking pics, so these are raw, no touch ups. And they are not pretty. Lots of cloud cover, lots of smog from the winds, and all taken around high noon. 3 strikes against me.

Thanks for the great real photos. I see nothing wrong with them, remember we are not pros, just hobbyists.

Yeah, those pictures suck.  [Not!!] ;)

I love how the un-ballasted track makes it look like a model.  Thanks for posting Mike.

Yeah the pics are just fine.   :)

The most interesting part is around the south walong turnout, bottom right of the second to last pic.

I was wondering about that too.  I'm guessing the plan is to eliminate the turnout at south Walong and make a crossover at north Marcel.  Does anyone here know?

Yeah, I kept looking for the push-pins to hold the track while the glue was drying.   :P :D

Great pics.   Isn't this more than a little bittersweet for you Tehachapi modelers?

Maybe. But it's a lot more bittersweet for somebody who grew-up there 50 years ago. :(
