Crap. how did I cut off the "& S".  F Me.

Jason

When you figure out what happened to the "& S" I would like a set.

I've been wanting to do that car for quite some time once I found a picture taken by Jim Sands.

The most dangerous object in the garage (besides me)?

Not the chop saw.
Not the circular saw.
Not the soldering iron.
Not the drill.
Not the jigsaw.
Not the Dremel.
Not the router (though close, as the 30-year-old bicycle-cable throttle is stuck on so I have to turn on & off by plugging & unplugging....)

The most dangerous object in the garage, the one tool that has inflicted more injuries on me more than any other, is.....

The tripod for the camera.

Every single time I untwist the locks on the legs to collapse it (it's 50 years old), I end up pinching my fingers.

Hard.

Usually it's just a bruise or a light cut.
But today was a pound of flesh:

It's all about making lemonade, my friends.
Lemons into lemonade.

Happy Monday, all.

Ha! Around our house, "No job is a success unless lubricated with MY blood." My wife claims she has the local ER on speed dial. (She loves your band-aid, BTW.)

Last post for my weekend...  A few more lights and a bit more sidewalk for Greenwood.  This little stretch just before the helix down into west staging is serving as my test bed for structure lighting as I begin to plan out Cumberland.

I reshot this using the Aperture Priority setting, stopping it down to 8.0 with a .3/sec. exposure.  The blue's still a little bright, but it looks less like there's a nuclear reaction going on upstairs.  Also, notice that I added lighting to the building next door.

I used more subdued LED's in this one.  I think the two main interior lights are on boards from Life Like diesels... they used a nice dull not quite yellow color.  The porch light is a 1.8 mm white LED, I dulled it down with the orange Sharpie trick, then carved a blob of dried hot glue into a small globe.  The street light is a yellow 1.8mm LED, which I sanded smooth and painted the top of it black, and then silver.  The leads go through the wall of the building where they are wired into the building system.  I used some old telegraph poles leftover from the Heljan kits I used for the paper mill to "hold them up".

Here's the updated scene with some daylight on it...

Note that I was able to do the "dual" dormers of the prototype.

... and enjoyed adding a few subtle details...

I'll be adding a couple of more buildings to the scene this week, then starting on the flats for the west end of Ridgely.  Eventually I'll be adding a permanent light circuit for this end of the layout.  I did a couple of other buildings for North Junction, but Andy decided he wanted to go to bed early, so he threw me out before I could shoot pictures.  :(

I wonder if anyone would have ever noticed if I hadn't said anything?

The fix is in process.  I had to redecal the whole area due to further dumbassness on my part.

Ah Jason, don't let it get to ya. We had a certain someone we know put the MILW heralds on backwards on the FVM Hiawatha tender.

Happens to the best of us...

How about a little night cap?

In the picture it looks more like a portal open to another dimension!

Very cool street scene Lee.

To me other than the trains, it's the buildings on the layout that give it character.  Hills, rivers, fields... They're fine and such, but it's the buildings that really go a long way to define a layout.

Thank you, Michael.  As a former builder and semi-architect, I really have fun bashing just about any kind of kit.  I hate leaving things as the directions tell you they should be...
