They were seperate companies?
There's a shyness found in reason
Apprehensive influence swallow away
You seem to feel abysmal take it
Then you're careful grace for sure
Kinda like the way you're breathing
Kinda like the way you keep looking away

They were, but there are a host of reasons to do this and it's not at all uncommon.

I'm going to guess that the Lionel, MTH, et la "higgly piggly" of the 90's and early 2000's caused Atlas to break out O scale as a way of protecting their base from possible legal issues.....that got uber messy.... with that all but behind us there isn't a good reason for duplications in a crap economy................
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

Was the LLC in Atlas O, LLC a clue or what?  Why else would anyone set up a subsidiary "Limited Liability Company" if not to protect the assets of the owner company?
