Who knew we needed a separate Road Sign forum here?  ;)

Found a Mid 80's BGS next to a newer BGS

Metric?  Was that a brief fad, or is that still around down there?

Still around in NH. Around the late 90's they started addding the Metric distances to I93, I95 and I89 for our large amount of Canandian friends

I love road stuff. Old roads, realignments, signage and interchanges. Along with model railroading its one my big geek hobbies. Pretty much railroading, roads, computers, Android OS, and abandoned ski areas are my geek drugs.

Yes all hail MUTCD! Section 2E on interstates leaves me wishing for more compared to other sections though.

They use metric in Timbuktu but can't use it in an advanced economy

I've got this sign about ten miles from my home; on I-75 northbound, Troy, MI.

I'd have to switch to modelling the GTW/CN to use it on a layout.

It's real.  Just one of those strange juxtapositions when the numbering of exits coincided  with a street name.  A few miles to the east and the road name changes to Metro Parkway.  I sure the young highway engineers, or whoever, were chuckling when this was built in the 1960s.  The suits probably didn't know what it meant.

Sort of like US666, maybe?. They eventually gave up using the "regular" US route signs because people would steal them immediately. The only route marker signs I saw on our last drive there were these huge things - 20'x20'? - that you couldn't quite toss in the back seat and take home. Not that we thought about doing that. Nope. :D

It's since been renumbered to US491. Gee, how come, guys?

69 used to run N/S through west-central NJ. Highway department could not keep up with sign thefts--there were more of them on dorm room walls than the highway. They finally gave up and renumbered it 31.

Scenic Express pack arrived this week so slowly things are starting to progress. I worked on the wing-walls and abutments for I93, and I just need to add the shoes, weathering and graffiti. I decided to use Evergreen "tile" for the abutments and wingwalls to represent a style that NHDOT used on bridges in the mid 70's, and is now starting to use again on the Rt. 16 Rochester Expansion and the I93 Salem-Manchester Expansion. I also printed out the mock up of the Exit 24 10x12 sign.

Work also continues on the industrial complex. I still need to add the step down power and several other details as well as quite a bit of weathering. Also at Phil's suggestion I added old discharge pipes. They still need to be detailed and weathered quite a bit.

Looks great! What'd you use for the brown ground cover around the pipes? Tea?
