Modular CP Rail layout

I have been detailing the progress on my CP Rail Delaware and Hudson division from Binghamton/Scranton to Philadelphia elsewhere, but it is finally coming towards something of a conclusion, so here is the South Street Subdivision:

This is the center of the urban module, representing a fictionalized area of South Philadelphia around South Street:

This is looking southward down the South Street Sub, gave it a bit of an "old-photo" effect for some reason when I edited it:

This is looking down the south street sub:

This is Old Lancaster Baked Goods, located on the Norfolk Southern "Trans-Rail" team track:

More to come, as the south street sub is more or less complete,

My best,
Jan

Moving "up-country" this is a short transition module meant to represent the Pocono mountains of Eastern Pennsylvania and the transition from Scranton to Philadelphia:

I still have to finish a corner module to connect the Pocono module to Bing-Taylor yard, so for the time being this is it,

Jan

The only thing missing is the high-line above 30th Street Station!

Really nice work.  I like your snow scenes, and your motive power- a great variety.

Thanks guys,  :D

Ed,
Funny, my original, 1st layout was an attempt to model the high line. I used Atlas viaduct kits and plastruct sheet bricks. The backdrops were a bit of a problem back then but now it would probably be easier. I would still love to give it a shot on some modules but space will be a problem, but one of these days.....

So here is a shot of what I call "Bing-Taylor" yard. Its a fictional representation combining elements of CP Rail's Binghamton yard shop along with the woodsy feel of CP's Scranton "Taylor" Yard. It also shows off some more motive power variety (one of the great things about modeling CP Rail in the Northeast is the wide variety of paint schemes):

Jan

This is really awesome. The philly stuff would also look great with some visiting power too...

I love it.  You have such a keen eye for capturing the atmosphere of a scene - both urban and rural.

But this being an Engineering Report, we need a track plan!  ;)

Of course, your right Gary!

Its easiest to do it in pictures:

North end:

Connects to the mountain mini-module until I can get another rural curved module done:

which connects to the urban module:

which will link to an urban curve I am working on now (no photo yet)

Which will connect to a somewhat fictional Philadelphia based intermodal yard loosely based on the Ameriport and the NS concept for expanding that facility (that has not occurred) once I complete converting my FEC module to winter:

I am very limited on space, and the two yards are 8' each (a pair of 4' modules each) and the urban area is another 8' so I set them up in a "U" formation with the two yards forming the legs of the U and the urban area the base, with the curved sections and the 2' mountain module connecting them. They all set up quickly and take up the entire family room when up! I really wanted to do the Yuengling brewery in Pottsville but just do not have the space right now.

Hopefully that tells the track plan story!

And I do have visiting power- although it has not been photographed as far south as South Street yet:

The Guilford power is for use on the north end around Binghamton, to bring trains in from Massachussets. The RBMN power is for export coal trains headed for transfer to NS for shipment to the port of Baltimore, and the NS/Conrail power is for general use as its generally a joint CP/NS shared line. I have a CSX loco I am getting ready to weather that I want to run a trash train with as well.

My best,
Jan

Once I get a chance, this visiting and lease power will also make more appearances:
