Need some help...Working on El Centro structures on SDAE HCD. I have
a large building that is only represented by a triangle or tri-sides. It will have
a fourth side that is open to the fascia. Should I bring the fascia up to
cover that side or black styrene.

Happy Thanksgiving to all us "Canucks", eh....time to give thanks for our blessings... and the new NHL season !     Leafs are "perfect" so far, they beat those cursed Habs and we're planning the parade..don't ya dare miss it.............

I finished the second Geoff Gooderham 81' Caandian Pacific smoothside lightweight baggage express car. I really should be "giving thanks" for Geoff's incredible castings as it's allowed me to model my Canadian Pacific Dominion...



Having two of these beasties make the head end of a passenger consist really "pop"...

And, now for something completely different...

The Stratton Brewery finally got the new brewing equipment they'd been waiting for as the Canadian Pacific shunted in a flat car late yesterday afternoon... the guys had been waiting all day and the afternoon shadows mean that they won't be getting home before dark tonight....overtime pay here we come ! ....



This is one of those nifty little Red Caboose flat cars with some resin loads and scale chain.... makes a neat little conversation piece.....

Why not Leave it open and build an interesting interior for it?

I believe we have a consensus here... would be really nice if you can include an interior.  But make the floor edge along the layout edge jagged... it will help to create the illusion of the building continuing...

recycling company warehouse...this would be the office
portion...

If your not interested in a interior for that structure I would go ahead with the facia there..this would be a better choice as it would not draw attentioin of the viewers eye away from the modeled portions of the scene.

After over a year and a half of inactivity with the layout, I finally worked on and completed something.  I had decided that the edge of my layout in the Denver area needed a structure that was only partially depicted.  This helps show that the city continues beyond the edge of the layout.  An added plus is it helps the city look more busy.  I think I set a speed record with this simple DPM structure . . . slow speed that is.  I started it in December 2009, right before I got divorced, and just finished it this morning.  I had the thought at the end of 2009 that since I was getting divorced, I'd at least have all the free time I wanted to work on the layout.  The reality was, it took longer than I would have guessed to get to a point where I felt like the rest of my life was complete and ballanced enough to want to devote my energies to the layout.  Anyway, here are some before and after shots.

I got a little decaling done.  Would have been more, but the CGW herald is proving to be a pain.  I didn't want to get too aggressive when I first applied it because of the age of the decals and the fact that it did start falling apart, but it's not holding up to Solveset too well either.




We're going to call the the 'practice side' for now, assuming I can do better on the other side.  Might not have been the best decaling project to start with after a long hiatus, but it is what it is.
