I was beginning to believe that you no longer had a layout.

At one point Dave, I was beginning to wonder myself?

The layout became kind of a catch all during the remodel...

Interesting looking "industries" :D
I'm facing a similar challenge. Instead of working on the layout, I get to remodel three bathrooms

Great work on all accounts Allen. Those new Locos look stupendous.
I'm missing my SFRSD however lucky to be working on the installation of it along with some neat enhancements at Johns abode.

@Cajonpassfan  -  Eventually where those are sitting will be the home to a Maytag warehouse and a Dr. Pepper Dist.
Let me know how the remodels go, my next one will be the main bath, sometime....

@Philip H  -  Thank you Philip for the kinds words.

@mstl 246  -  I'm getting closer to have enough Rock Island units to represent the Rag Tag fleet I've always see in the books and pictures I've collected and remembered seeing when I was much younger.  Thanks, Nat.

@Santa Fe Guy  -  Thanks Rod, at least you still have the ability to play a role in your creation rather than just memories, looking forward to seeing what John comes up with.

Years back while visiting a buddy in KC, we went railfanning and was lucky enough to actually see this unit in person, sitting in Katy's K.C. yard waiting to head south. Since then I've always thought it would be cool to have one of these for the layout to run with my FPPX train.

Years later I ran into a guy on eBay who I had purchased several custom Rock Island locos from him previously. One night while snooping through eBay I found another of his listings. This time he had done the #409-B using a KATO F7!!!

Well I gathered enough guts to actually make contact with him to see if I he would be interested in building me as well, but instead of using a KATO, I wanted mine made with a Intermountain unit.

Well he agreed and several years later here it is!!!
Thanks Chuck C !

That's a crazy engine, especially given the 645 inside. Love it.

I'm also digging the MKT patched out WM units in the prototype photos you added. @wm3798 probably won't be a fan if you do one though.

Thanks Ed and Philip!
Actually @Philip H, take a closer look at the "WM" units.  Lee won't have a problem with them as they're ex-ICG GP38AC's
  ;)

WM never had any 38s.  But yeah... I had to look twice!
