Ok.
Sometime this place allows to me post photos, but for the past couple days I just get a blank white screen if I post with photos (text-only is fine).

Over the last week this has happened on & off.

I've posted picts that I've resized to <800, and I've posted the original size 1500+ picts too (which this forum sometimes resizes automatically, but sometime leaves HUGE).

I use Photobucket, but haven't had any problems posting photos on other phorums.
And, like I said, sometimes I can post picts here.

But not for the past couple o' days.

And while I'm pretty descriptive with words, it would be nice to post some picts once in a while.

Is this a forum software issue, or is there something I can do on / to my end?
Thanks for your help.

Yes, I understand that you can post pictures.

Three days ago, I could post pictures, too.

Four days ago: just got the blank white screen when posting with photos.

Last couple days: blank white screen.

Tried clearing cookies, restarting, logging out & back in, etc.
Still blank white screen (when I hit preview it say "Fetching preview" but never does: I've left it for 1/2 hour).

So either: forum software doesn't like my photo strings, or I need to do something on my computer to make everything friendly & happy.
Here's a sample string I put between the "img" code things: http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/aa332/mcfujiwara/Mt%20Coffin%20and%20Kalama%20RR/DSC06253.jpg
Which links to the photo but I seem to not be able to embed.

Any thoughts?

Cheers!

Is this forum run on 'nix shared hosting? If so, could it be the spaces, while they "may" go URL safe when pasting, I know we have all sorts of issues at work on our Linux box and people who put spaces in document names. Just a thought,

Funny, I used the url with %20 for spaces (posted by John few posts ago) and it seems to work for me.
Personally I prefer not to use spaces (or other non-Web safe characters) in my file names.  Life is *SO* much easier that way. But then again, I have been playing with various flavors of Unix for the last 25 years so not using spaces in file names is hardcoded in my brain (unlike folks who cut their teeth on Windoze).  :D

I could see John's post #20 when I clicked on the link, but did not see the pic in his post #21....it showed up as one of those icons that means photo missing (but no error message).

I agree with Peteski about blank spaces, and expressly put in underscores ( _ ) where blanks would otherwise occur in file names.
Regards,
Paul

Tom,
I know about the date. While I don't know what was done in post #21, post#20 is within of couple of minutes of #21 and it contains a URL which still works (which I was able to use in my post #22.  So that image does still exist.

Here is the content of post #21, with the img markup changed to curly brackets so it would display:

{img}http://http:www.therailwire.net/rr/IMG%200058.IMG{/img}

The URL is clearly wrong, but removing the 2nd http just gives a missing image (blue question mark):

I don't know what point John was trying to make here, but it's probably not worth trying to reverse engineer his intent.
