I would probably get a pair of BN to power a couple of CSX -7 I got a long time ago. Maybe I will also get 1776 since it looks cool.

Not much improvement from the old tooling.  The plows on the D&RGW are molded in an orange that doesn't match, and the Kodachromes' yellow is way off.  Check Trainboard.  There's some pictures up there.

That's really frustrating.  Then again, I guess I should be pleased that they didn't release a bloody nose version.  That helps take the sting off this release too.

Kato does a poor job fully utilizing models.  The SD4Xs rarely see the light of day, despite being staples of North American railroading.  At least the East Coast fans have seen a lot of GG1s.  I hope they bought every one they wanted, since the tooling will sit on the shelf until 2025.

Meh, my Eastern modeling budget needs a break anyway.  No complaints from me.

Its good to see Kato get back to some looked over models. The tooling is just fine in my book. I expect they will have filled in pilots.

Being far from an expert on older GE power, does this mean that I may finally, after what have been a decade now, be able to get some trucks for C30-7 shells/mechanisms that Kato sold for dirt cheap but was out of trucks for so very long ago?

This western road thing is really a bummer. I have a U-30-C right here in D&H. I'd love to have at least another.

The SD 45 ? Why oh why can't we get that in EL or CR?
C30-7 is a serious need for any CR fan interested in Boston & Albany railroading.

Thankfully, Atlas knows our pain. Kato remains a distant second.
Drive carefully. It's not only cars that can be "recalled" by their maker.

I'll grant that EL is a tough one to custom paint...  However, doing a Conrail paint job is pretty simple.  The bear is stripping the western paint off the body... ;D

I am happy with the release even though there is nothing I would really like to buy.  The BN unit would be great for nostalgia as I grew up railfainning BN and I modeled the early years after the merger.  That is when I discovered the Q and moved my era back.  I keep my BN stuff for sentimental reasons.  It would be nice to add this unit to go with my C30-7 but I am not sure I want to spend the money on an engine I know I won't run very often if ever.

My SD45s should show up today or Monday.

I am now expecting a new run on C30-7.  It would seem to fit the pattern.

Don't worry, they'll do another release in 30 years.

Actually, the C30-7 isn't so important for CR. They only had 6 of them. It's the C30-7A that we'd need in numbers. Sadly the carbody is a lot different (very different door layout, different nose). I think only two roads had the As, so your best bet for them is to ask Daniel very nicely to cast you up some of the great shells he made.
