What are the best N scale trees?

Now that I'm finishing my wiring next will be scenery!! I was wondering how to go about obtaining the best trees. I have pepper grass which is ok as far as filler trees but it looks to weed like up close. Is it best to go with super trees or the MRC trees? I'm modeling specificaly May of 1980 in Ohio.

Personally, I like the Scenic Express Super Trees as a base, and then I prep them for winter:

However, I believe that they probably need to be combined with super sage to get better effects. I may try that myself in the future.

JTT has some great stuff (distributed by MRC) - but its expensive.  Woodland Scenics trees have come a long way since they first intoduced them, but still not as good as they could be.  I'm working now on rehabbing some old WS armitures with newer foliage products to see if I can get them to look better.

After purchasing a bag o' street lights, a bag o' cars, and a bag o' people from the Chinese Detail Syndicate on ebay, I'm tempted to try one of the bags o' trees they offer.  I've seen a bag of 50 trees for about $12 shipped.  Even if I have to get a can of aquanet and some ground foam to tone down the electric green, it might be worth the gamble.

Besides, we already owe China billions if not trillions of dollars, if I'm going to have send money over there anyway, I might as well get some trees for it!

These are those cheap china trees from the bay:

But Woodland Scenic's armatures can be made into some decent looking trees also.  Below are two doctored up SuperTrees (on the left) and a doctored up Woodland Scenic's armature (on the right)...



And here's another Woodland Scenic's armature being used:



Making decent trees takes $ or time.  Pick yer poison. ;)

Use the good ones up front and fill in with the junk or do the puff ball method ala Dave Frary.

I've used Timberline trees in the past and like them.  They use real trees for the bases.
