I quote myself.... Give me a PHD.

There are a lot more roads than the list above that utilized the NE Caboose, even excluding the wood-sided versions.  Pittsburgh & Shawmut, Savannah & Atlanta, Genesse & Wyoming, and a whole bunch of shortlines as well.  Lehigh & Hudson River can be fudged, but it had the wood-sided cars.  I know Chessie inherited the WM cars but I wasn't aware C&O had any.

I like a lot of the suggestions so far, here is my list in order of want. If you do make new cars, please fix the ride height issue. You have new wheels coming soon, that will allow lower ride heights. Use them.

X58 I CAN NOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH X58
Comet II Commuter Cars (Over a dozen schemes used, I need at least 25)
19,000 gallon corn syrup cars
Trinity PD hoppers
Trinity plastics hoppers
Shoving Platforms (transfer caboose)
52' gons (60's-80's style)
Z and C side 89' TOFC
RTTX, ETTX adaptions of your current TOFC
53' Spine Car
53' sheet/post trailer (i LOVE your other trailers and a 53' sheet/post has not been done in N. A Stoughton, Strick, or Fruehauf are all good choices.)
50' Waffle box
73' bulkhead flats
48' trailer with roll up door
single and dual blade Russell Plow
Jordan Spreader
Flanger plow

There's a shyness found in reason
Apprehensive influence swallow away
You seem to feel abysmal take it
Then you're careful grace for sure
Kinda like the way you're breathing
Kinda like the way you keep looking away

I did the spot research about 5 months ago for those, I know it's not exhaustive I just didnt have time (I do work ya know ;D). I'll double check on the C&O caboose, I may have confused it with a Magor. This was one site I looked at: http://www.railroad.net/articles/railfanning/northeastcabooses/index.php

Believe it or not, the C&O did have "northeastern" cabooses.  The C&O bought seven NE cabooses from the Western Maryland in 1965.  To be correct, though, metal awnings need to be added over the side windows (including the cupola sides) and the corner steps need to be replaced with C&O-style steps.

The New Hope and Ivyland had a very nice NE style caboose.

However, I did note the commentary regarding X58s...  I would want several road numbers both in PRR and CR, and am not quite sure the MTL model of releasing limited offerings of single road numbers is going to be ideal.  Neither would I want a "runner pack," since those tend to be identical paint schemes with only the road number differing.  CR had so many variations on these cars.  PRR did too just from a load restraint perspective (lettering differed).

So on the X58, I may have let my desire for the body style cloud my judgment on the larger picture.

I think the NE caboose is a perfect fit, Joe.  You won't run out of road names in your lifetime.

I'd also be in for more gon options, both transition-era and circa 1980.

They usually also sell undecs .. I picked up a bunch of MDC undecs, and slowly paint them ..

We could also really use this car. Every railroad had them but nobody makes a decent version (only some early 1970s tooling). The doors and/or ends could be either wood or steel. Some of these cars saw MOW service later in life, which greatly expands their era. This would have to be a low rider though as this is critical to their look.

Best wishes, Dave

Second, but I also second the low ride height.  We don't need any more pimped rides!

Props to MTL for having the stones to not only ask what modelers would be interested in, but even more importantly telling us why certain things are the way they are.

Many of these manufacturers seem to act like it's a state crime to lift the veil of secrecy and share with the N-scale nation their thoughts on why or why not a specific model is produced.

My respect of MTL has risen 10-fold.

There are entirely good reasons to have secrecy about new projects, but Michael is right on and many of us do appreciate Joe reaching and being pretty candid about the process.

Thank you Dave...see I was right!  ;) I didn't have time to check my WM caboose book last night...screw you Zero-Day IE vulnerability!

That's a good idea, Ian.  Might not fly, though, unless they made them to convert their own cars to body mounts, too!

Just doing Atlas cars alone would require a variety of interpretations.

1)  A larger capacity three-dome tankcar like the one Athearn has done in HO for years in numerous paint schemes.

2)  A logging caboose to go with all of the previously released log cars.

3)  I'll second (or third or whatever) the carbon black car.

4)  Another engine (S2 etc).  My Milwaukee Road FT's are some of my favorites out of a 150+ roster of engines.

Thanks, Joe, for seeking our input.
Best regards,

Roger
