I got the idea to use textures on commercial kits.  The kit is Walther's Magic Pan Bakery, and the textures are from Clever Models.

Thoughts?  Believable?

Tom,

As usual, this looks great. Did you have issues with the repetitive patterns of some of their textures or are you just doing this on a small area for photography. I have been playing with the Clever Models textures (from the CD) to scratch build the Schlitz C-house (bottling plant). It is coming along, but I have a long way to go before it looks as nice as your stuff. Very inspirational...maybe that angelic light in the photo.

So far, the stuff I've built is smaller than the repeating texture pattern - so it hasn't been an issue.

So what is Walther's and what is cardstock? Did you wrap the silos with something?

The structure is Walther's.  The cinderblock building and silos are wrapped with the texture.  The staircase is salt weathering.

Very nice.  It will take you forever to build a layout!  But it will look awesome to those of us who survive you... ;D

not really - it doesn't take too much longer to "wrap" the buildings.  And as Dave pointed out, raw materials are "made" with your printer, so costs are low too.

All the textures are available for N, buy the DVD its worth the 30.00 by far.
