Don't you have two boys who need to learn how to mix grout and cut in on trim?

I owe Ed a huge thanks for this...  Back in 2012 the call for the token N scale layout for GMR 2013 went out to the BANTrak group, and Ed forwarded it to me.  So Ed, thanks so much!

Bout time I get my due! lol.

It was my pleasure. The Juniata Division really IS one of the greats (code 80, NJI signals and all).

Hey now...  There were NO NJI signals at the time of the photo shoot.  The Alkem signals were in full operation when Paul Dolkos visited.   :D

Yeah, LOL...

Turns out not only was my command station jacked up, Paul accidentally kicked over our 2 TB NAS drive that was under the layout and killed it.  We didn't notice until he was gone.

I can't fight it anymore... I've never lost my love for the Colorado narrow gauge and being here, in narrow gauge Mecca, and having just ridden the former D&RGW over Cumbres Pass, I HAVE to model it.

Patricia is on board (pun unintended but happy accident) with this too.

However rather than scrap the Juniata, I'm headed outside.  We are seriously considering a garden railroad based loosely on the Rio Grande Southern or the D&RGW Santa Fe branch (a.k.a. Chili Line).

This is going to be great!  Why fight it, narrow gauge is just so cool and how can you leave Chama feeling otherwise?

Sounds like me. Best part is that they can go anywhere since they are all on paper

Very nice.  Do you have cool topography in your garden?  Its got to be RGS.

Okay, I have two thoughts:

1)  That's a LOT of HCD's

2) More serious, Is it going to be modular?  Not to be a wet blanket but how long do you anticipate being in CO?  Outdoor layouts are a lot of ROW prep work - especially in areas with real winters.  No experience, so I could be mistaken, but I've been interested in outdoor railroads and read a little about it.

I also do Garden Railroading, so I got some knowledge here. What was said about investment in time and work is true. There is a tone of work prepping the garden before track is even laid. Then laying track is another project in itself. Garden Railroading is very fun, but if you think you might vacate the area in a year are two, all your hard work is going to have to stay. Bachmann is the name of the game in 1:20.3 so don't bash 'em  :D.
