If it was MTL, you should expect one from IM as well.

What prototype? You mean the correct flag colors on their upcoming "GEVOs of the European Union" series? :)

Kato's site has "--> Coming Soon" listed right after the Dash9's in the North American N scale locomotive section.

If its someone other than Kato make this they could have a gold mine since they could also do -9 and AC44 with the mech, trucks and cabs. Hope they have regular DCC ready versions.

Dowish's comment is really interesting:

http://www.katousa.com/N/locomotive.html

If you poke around you see this is exactly how they put a placekeeper in for a new product.  And wow , they are in alphabetical order and guess what FITS THERE:

            GE GEVO
            GE EVOLUTION
            GE ES44AC
            GE ES44DC

I've said it again - I know about XXXXXXXXX - but could Kato be planning its own bombshell too?

BOMBSHELL ALERT:

The "Coming Soon" on the Kato Site in the LIST OF GE's - IS NOT IN THE GOOGLE CACHE, which means it was entered into the site just recently....

I'm nobody special, actually in the Portland, OR area.  I was actually on the Kato website researching decoders for their SD70ACes so I knew what to be on the lookout for tomorrow at the NSC swap meet.  I saw that and immediately thought "GEVO!!!"

Am I right in thinking that the ES40's are based on Dash 8-40 chassis' and ES44's are based on AC4400 chassis' in 1:1 scale?

With the Kato "coming soon" poping up, just thinking who has the mechanism already that would work for each variation.

No they are all base on the -9/AC44 frame.
