All of them....for awhile.

Charlie knows key people in key places at most of the major manufacturers. And if what he said is true, it could be somebody new to loco manufacturing. While nothing like this shocks me anymore, it would be a bit of a surprise.

One ad has generated more buzz on the forums than anything else in a long time. Brilliant piece of marketing.

True Tom, but this is for aproduct that hasn;t even been announced yet. Another one that I really hope it's notis that shadow PWRS outfit North American Railcar. If it is, I'm glad I don't model Modern. If I did, I'd quit and go to Thomas before giving them a dime.

If GEVO (all caps) is an acronym or abbreviation (General Electric eVOlution series?) then it is correct to use an apostrophe for the plural,

That's how it should be!  But I'm just being a pest.  ;) 

BTW, Wig-Wag seems to have given a wink to the PWRS theory over on TB.   :-\

BLI almost makes sense. They have now had over 2 years to tool and get it ready while we were waiting for the second batch of E's. The only thing that has changed in the E's is the decoder so that time could have been spent on a new frame. If they were smart, it was kept a total secret and it is ready to roll out with the announcement. That way they can't get nailed for more vapor ware announcements. They could actually have a plan to be ahead of the curve......nah!

Also notice that the topic is still live on Atlas. You know their feelings on rumor mill threads and this one hasn't been shut down yet.....could be that they like the attention.

Athearn just finished up with F/FP45's with 4+ unique shells and 2 unique frames. They have showed that they aren't afraid of specific variations. They have no new loco's in the works for N, only re-runs of Challengers with new sound, SD70's and F/FP45's.

There are way to many plausible variations.

A note about grammar, and then back to the topic:

Gary, you may be being a pest, but it's kind of fun, isn't it? After all, clarity of expression (grammar) goes along with clarity of thought. As far as "GEVO" is concerned, I find no guidance as to how to make a plural of it, and "GEVOs" does seem clear, since it's all caps otherwise. "Gevo" is also the name of a corporation that specializes in biofuels. Anyway, the manual of style I consulted this morning only talks about the plural form of abbreviations, and it lists, as proper examples of the use of apostrophes for plurals, these (among others): ABC's, OK's, YMCA's. Compounding this is the fact that some acronyms have lost their "acronymious" status and become regular words. "Radar," "sonar," and "laser" are primary examples. Possibly “GEVO” will do the same.

But to return somewhat to the topic of GEVOs, I’d be interested to know more about the car body phases of these things. Are the GEVO's now being delivered identical in appearance (before being painted, of course), or are there still phase variations as was the case with early production? I'm not sure this helps our speculation about the model manufacturer, since Kato and Athearn both have a record of road specific tooling, but if GE has settled on set car body design, and there's a likelihood many major railroads will end up purchasing this same phase locomotive, it would make sense for a model manufacturer to settle on that same design and ignore early production differences.
