What railroad is that?? If there ever was any track below "excepted" track, that looked to be it.  Fancy paint job on the 3rd unit, though. Got money for that, huh?  To me, the track comes first, you cannot provide decent service without decent track.

I believe this is trackage of the Carolina Southern RR in SC, Gregg. I like that ex CN B unit in the consist too.

Hmm.  It must be harder to derail a train than I thought.  I swear there's a portion of track early in that video where the rails don't appear to be even close to proper gauge!  That must be some cab ride, like a theme park roller coaster.

I've been on some pretty bad track like that, but its mostly after we have done major tie replacement. After tamping and aligning it is for a much better looking and feeling ride.

Telescopic photos exaggerate viewed conditions . We are seeing bad track under photo conditions that makes it look worse .

True, but the only thing the telephoto shot does is compress a long length of bad track into a short one. The telephoto does not exaggerate vertical displacement, and when those locos start dipping and rolling, it's no better than it looks... and it looks mighty bad.

I just mapquested some of the info in the description under the video footage. I roamed around this area while vacationing in Myrtle Beach two years ago and found two Ortner hoppers that had rolled on to their sides near this road crossing. Major shocker, I know. When I went back to Myrtle Beach last year, the two Ortners had been uprighted and put on a dead track in the area. What a shame. I have pictures somewhere.

That steam is really something to watch!! :o :o
I'm not so sure I would have been video taping that close to the track!!!!

Those have got to be some of the ugliest steam locos I've ever seen.
