First, to those of us here in the USA, Happy Thanksgiving and don't overdose on either turkey or football!
For this week, still in The Crescent City.
In October 1962, The new Mississippi River Bridge had been built and NOPSI has begun to "modernize" the cars. Here No. 951 has metal rather than wooden doors, and the striping on the ends has been replaced by white muntins between the front as well as side windows.
An unmodernized NOPSI 963 passes in front of Tulane University on St. Charles Ave. The tower in the background is the church at Loyola University.
Taken in December 1961, NOPSI 914 and 952 on Canal Street. No. 914 was the first to get a fairly thorough modernization - note the small standee windows and the rounded door and roll sign windows, a style later removed.
Next week, still more from New Orleans.
