Identify This Equipment

Spent the afternoon doing some railfanning at Alexandria, VA and in Bowie, MD.  Here's a shot where the Pope's Creek branch goes south.  If you look at the upper right hand corner at the top of the cat pole you'll see a round dish (sort of like a microwave dish).  There were quite a few of these on the poles.  Do not remember seeing these before.  Anyone know what they are and what they are used for?

Hey Bob,
Those are super bright lights to illuminate the interlockings.
Amtrak put some up at the Winans plant on SW Blvd. about 3 years ago.
I guess they are to deter terrorists,or tresspassers.
I believe they are sensor activated.

Thanks.  Didn't look like lights - more like some kind of comm units.
