I have to assume that footage was shot by a commercial production crew and not a railfan outfit, but did they ever catch the essence of West Virginia railroading??

That opening shot was pretty amazing...

My parents taught me "If you can't say something nice, say nothing." Therefore  I have nothing to say about the Chessie System. Now, the original "Chessie", as an advertisement of the C&O's sleeping car service, is another matter. A stroke of advertising genius, IMHO.

R.E.M. Driver 8.  Nice.  Does anybody remember the appearance of a B&O 40-series GP unit (in Chessie System paint) with a C&O 40-series SD unit (in that beautiful pre-Chessie Enchantment Blue paint) in John Mellencamp's video for "Pink Houses"?

Dave Foxx

P.S. By the way there's a shot of what I believe is a Penn Central Geep early in the same video and a Conrail caboose at the very end.

Would you believe that my sister's father in law wrote that ad for Tootsie Pops?  He was also one of the creative geniuses behind "Scrubbing Bubbles"  (They do the work, so you don't have to!)

Back to topic... Chessie had no idea what soap was for...

Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!
