MV Lenses as lenses

I've seen a number of articles on the web dealing with using MV lenses as lenses for lights. That is as a lens for use with a real, working light (either LED or bulb).

My question is how do folks go about removing the silvering on the back of the MV lens in order to let the light shine through the clear portion of the lens?

Thanks
Brian

File a little flat spot at the point of the MV lens. The light will shine  through it onto the reflective surface. Looks exactly like a bulb and reflector.

It's basically a foil backing.  You can file it, scrap it, or just use the point of a blade to start peeling it off.  In the larger scales guys have drilled though the back to push the micro-bulb into the lens.  But, if we're talking HO or N, Gregg's method is fine.  But, with how small they are, I just peel it all off and let the light shine through.
