I just found out about this site and joined.  I had been lurking (and had a few posts) on the Atlas forums and with their impending demise I saw a reference to this forum and decided to check it out.  I have been in N scale for about 5 years; starting when I moved out of my parents place and didn't have room for HO in an apartment.  My modeling interests primarily deal with the midwest granger and iron ore roads (My layout is the Soo Line in southeast Wisconsin); and also signalling systems.  Hope I am able to participate and contribute here.

I have lurked long enough here so I may as well step out and say "hi." It took me a while to figure out that I was unable to log in not because of a forgotten password but because I had just simply forgotten my username. I am "SteamDonkey74" other places on the interwebs, but here just "SteamDonkey" without the number at the end.

I am modeler in N and On30, with just a teensy-weensy bit of Nn3 thrown in for fun. I am a member of an NTrak club and part of two loose affiliations of modelers besides that (PNW FreemoN and PNW On30), and I have also been volunteering these last couple years at the Pacific Model Loggers' Congress in Elsie, Oregon. If it's not obvious from the choice of moniker, I have a strong interest in rails and logging in the age of steam. My current projects in N mostly focus around some passenger stuff and my Oregon-American Lumber Co. modules. In On30, I am working on a two module set-up for a lumber mill to be part of the big On30 layout at the NNG convention in September.

Adam,
Welcome.  Both your interests will pique others interests around here - IO'd especially love to see some of your On30 work, as I have a long standing interest in using that to model sugarcane operations in addition to my current N scale KCS fascination.

Hello, I'm Max Magliaro.  I am yet another "fallout" from the Atlas Forum, where I participated for
some 7 years (I just had to go check to see when I joined!).  I was a rabid PRR modeler for about 20 years, and lived in Pennsylvania during that time.  Now, I live in Oregon.  Since I got into the PRR strictly because I was modeling what was around me, I decided it was time for a change.  I am constructing a new layout based loosely on 1950s NP and SP&S.

Steam locos and the scenery and trains that surround them are still what I love to do most.  I'll just be kitbashing
NP and SP&S ones now, instead of PRR and NYC.

I appreciate the kind words of welcome and invitation many of you have already extended to me in the other thread.
Thank you to one and all for that!

Hi. I am Clint Giustra AKA mecgp7 or cgiustra on the other forums.  30+ years in N scale. I model Northern New England with the primary road the Maine Central. Others include the BAR, CP, CN, B&M and D&H as connectors to the MEC.

I know many of you from the other forums and look forward to meeting new friends here.

Thanks,
Clint

Hello,

I'm one of the ex Atlas forum members, although I was more a reader than a writer. I got my first N scale train set in 1975. As I'm from Germany it was of course a German train set and I collected trains for the next 25 years or so.
During the time I worked for the Deutsche Bundesbahn I lost some of my interest in trains. I became more and more interested in shipping, especially ferries and DFDS Seaways.
When I first visited my sister who lives in the UP of Michigan I was fascinated of the ore docks in Marquette. And there it was, a perfect combination of shipping and railroading. After that I started collecting trains of the ore hauling railroads on Lake Superior.
Last year I started building a layout with a fictional railroad called Gitchi-Gumi Railroad which is a co-operative of all railroads on Lake Superior. Therefore I can use whatever I like  :D

Jim Reising here; I've monitored this board for some time now but joined with the impending closure of the A board.  I also frequent Trainboard where I have a long running thread titled The New Oakville Sub.  I'm a basement kind of guy, modeling the Tehachapi line without the loop.  An article on the Sub will be in July's MR.

Hi guys..My name is Lou DeGrose, another Atlas survivor,AKA "LOU D",although I really haven't been active there for a while because I just didn't like the way they ran it..I sincerely hope that a lot of the great modelers from there come here, and we can all get along without the baggage.[Hi Max,hi Clint!!..]
I got my first N scale trainset in 1967.I have close to 450 locomotives, many scratchbuilt, most at least custom painted.I model pretty much every pre-Conrail railroad in Eastern Pa,LV,EL,CNJ,D&H,PC,L&HR,I have nearly every class of locomotive from those roads, even most known lease units.I also model pool power from the time period,N&W,B&O,NKP,etc..I'm looking forward to meeting Northeast modelers, and sharing my knowledge...LOU

Hello  I am Rich I live in Southern New Jersey  In the Pine Barrens area, I been in N Scale for about 30 years and I have built a few small N Scale  layouts in that time. The layout I am working  on now will be a double deck layout  the upper deck will be Pennsy  Northern div. Northumberland  Pa. 1956 to 1966, the lower will be Enola- Harrisburg Pennsy 1956-1966,  Conrail-Amtrak 1979. I am a big fan of Dr Dave Vollmer work, and  of the other great modelers on the Railwire                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          Rich

Welcome aboard Rich. Love having a South Jersey Pennsy fan around.  (I live in the Sewell/Washington Twp area.) Looking forward to seeing some pictures from your work.
