I've yet to see an N scale PRRSL layout, but I really want to. Go for it!

Its sad to have to lose your hard work, but I think you're looking at it right, it's a chance to try something new.

Good luck with the layout, and welcome!

Rick, welcome to TRW. I promise these guys won't bite too hard. It sucks the layout won't be able to be reused or come with you. I know my dad and I enjoyed the chance to see it,

Hi all!! My name is Marty, and I've recently joined.
My first priority is N Scale, although I was into HO a while back.

I do not have a layout, and seeing as there is no club in NYC (with a layout), I'm afraid I do my hobby by myself. N-Trak is out of the question, because I haven't a car either.

I am good with track laying, wood work and electrical.

Feel free to contact me if you have a club or a layout and need some help.

Marty
Drive carefully. It's not only cars that can be "recalled" by their maker.

Welcome Marty

Just the other day I was wondering what it was like to be a modeler in NYC, without spare closets, let alone basements. I'm guessing the answer is "not easy".

Ed, Actually I own a house. I'm in Queens, on Long Island.

You need to look up  Bobcat, I believe he's in Queens, too.  I know he's active with a model railroad club up there... not sure which one.

Maybe HO. Brooklyn has N-Trak, but other than that, you have to go a distance for an N Scale club.

Good day all,

My name is Marc, I live in France, and have been a fan of US railroads since 1993.
My interest has gone from Northwestern prototypes, Camas Prairie etc...to California and the South West (mostly Santa Fe) and eventually to 'granger roads' (M&StL, C&NW, RI and CB&Q and the like).
One could tell that I've been very active in the hobby...as several cubic feet of assorted N scale stuff packed in my basement and piles of books can testify  :-[
Like for every end of year season, the 'model railroad project fever' has bite me again, this time centered around the rendition of a small tract of a double tracked Burlington Route line in Iowa (or Illinois ?) which should treacherously look like the Franksville module that has pushed me toward joining in.

Beside, a more immediate and reachable goal is to set up a temporary unitrack based layout on the dining room table to play with my kids, who,
strangely enough, are not impervious at all to everything that rolls on flanged wheels.
This small project will consist of what I'd call a 'switching oval layout'  ;D

I will have a few question to ask for which my friend Google didn't help, and will post them if you don't mind.

Have a nice Friday evening, here it's already Saturday morning (but very early  ;D)

Marc

hi all - greetings from down under.  just new to model railroading - years and years of Slot cars - 1/24, 1/32 and lately HO scale.  So i figured as I get older things get smaller - .. N Scale Railroading is for me.   No idea what I'm doing - bought a heap of Kato Unitrack cause I'm stupid and it is easy to put together - tons of locos with sound, cause I'm old and like things that speak back to me.  See how we go.
I suppose like most people I cannot find a layout I like, so still messing around with designs.   I have a 40' by 20' shed, that has a 28' by 8' slot car track in the middle of it, and a drag track down one side.  So the trains are at one end (16' by 3') but can be extended (and probably will be) around the other edge - woo hoo!

What I think I want though , is lots and lots of animation and moving bits - and again , as I am too stupid to make this stuff myself, am on the hunt for kits and smart guys who work for commission to obtain this stuff.  I'll watch the board with interest and keep googling !!   Cya in the forums.

Don't think of it as being stupid...  Think of it as discoveries yet to be made.  Welcome to the 'wire.

Thx Mark, I've found one yet (reduced to 80 pix etc...) but I've still to find a way to post it in my profile.
For now, I'm left with no other choice than rockstars, actors, etc... ;D

BTW, isn't you avatar from a film with C.Eastwood as one of the main caracters, which dealt seriously
with some lesser known aspects of WW2 ?  ;)
In French, the title I think was "De l'or pour les braves" = "Some Gold for the braves"  8)
