 Rich here, I'm the owner  and only employee of Rslaserkits.  Have been dropping in here the last week or so and it looks like a nice place. I don't post that much unless I can help out, and if you have any questions feel free to ask. I model N scale Steam logging and most my kits fit the early to mid 1900's ,but hey old buildings are all over. Also have HO , O and of course Z and detail parts for scratch builders. Will do some newer stuff as my layout needs are filled, and you bug me enough for it.

Hey guys,
I didn't realize it, but heck I am an old guy, but I signed up for The Railwire a long time ago, and forgot to bookmark it.  I re-discovered it on another forum, and the press for this forum was pretty good, so I tried my banner and secret password and it worked, then lurked and liked this forum, and bookmarked it this time. So I will be active on four railroad forums - the Atlas, the Invision, Trainboard and now, the Railwire. 

My name is Ken Willaman, and I am a 6 year forum veteran, starting out as "Steamguy" on the old Atlas board.  I am quite more mellow now, and do not engage in the rants and flames like I did then, and my love and passion for N scale has increased, while I still enjoy other scales, like Z, HO, O (2-rail), and G.  Right now I am living alone in a double wide in a retired community, and have 4 layouts, one N in my living room, which is pretty formalized with a skirt and is always kept neat.  In my workroom, I have 2 zcale layouts a shelf style HO point to point, and another portable 2x4 N I take to shows.

My passion is steam, in all scales.  But I love diesels, too, and model primarily the steam to diesel transition era.

I plan to be active at least once per day starting today, 7/27 barring illness, or other dire circumstances.  My stances are that I like dcc but it is not a good idea for me, as I have way too many locos, and I do not like Code 55.  I like sound, provided it isn't too dominant over the trains or scenery.

I used to be active in clubs, and because I am a big mouth, and an extrovert type, I am known to all clubs in the area, but I just recently resigned a long association with one, so I can devote more time to working on my main N layout.  I love modeling, kitbashing, building, rebuilding, scratchbuilding, and making cars that are not available.  I just finished making a transfer caboose from an old Atlas steel caboose and rather proud of the effort.

I also model cars, mostly 1/24-1/25 street rods, customs and early dragsters, but now am showing interest in some larger scale models, too. I am not a fan of cast metal cars. 

So, now you know, and I sure am looking forward to sharing experiences and techniques with you guys.

Hey, just thought I'd actually post to this topic and give an intro.

My name is Matthew (obviously), and being a high school student, I don't always have the time to model, though I do now have the space.

You may know me from my most "famous" topic, the "Hashing Out a Freelance Road" thread, on freelancing a transition-era class 1 between Denver and the Texas Gulf Coast. I am in the primary stages of building a layout nowadays, drawing out trackplans and the like.

I am an avid amateur photographer and railfan. Also quite interested in web design, etc, and computer strategy games, as well as architecture and landscaping.

My biggest problem is my tendency to like too many different things and not get anything "done".

Which isn't good having only a year before I move off to college.

(Should I mention I migrated here from TrainBoard after seeing some awesome modeling here. )

I'm Doug Nelson and I model the PRR in the 1950s.  You may have seen my layout in the Jan. 2001 MR, and I have had several articles in N Scale Railroading.  My layout is fairly small but I have used it like a stage set for "railfan" photographs.  Its my time machine to the 1950s.  I was born in 1956, so I missed it all in person.  I also have an interest in the pioneering railfan photographers from that era and you may have seen my book "Phillip R. Hastings - Portrait of the Pennsylvania Railroad."  I grew up in New York but I now live in Mill Valley, CA.  I am an active member of the PRRT&HS and spend time along the former PRR whenever I can. 

I consider myself a "prototype modeler".  While it is difficult to count rivits in N scale, I do want to see more prototype modeling in N scale.  One of the things that I have been modeling lately is weathering my existing fleet of freight cars.  At some point in the future, I would like to redo my layout to better represent the PRR Middle Division town Huntingdon, PA.  I have already scratch-built Hunt Tower and collected photographs and other data on Huntingdon.

Railwire looks like a great forum for sharing N scale modeling and I look forward to participating.

I just want to take a moment to give a quick "howdy" to everyone and thank Rich Reinhart for reminding me about this great forum. And thank Ed K for helping get my account straightened out after making some errors when registering.

A few weeks ago, I was shutting down the Conrail Cyclopedia and walking away from railroading due to health and other issues. Since visiting with my dad, listening to my son, and feeling a bit better, I turned all of that around. Yes, we are officially getting back into model railroading.

We have settled into N scale. I'm joining a local N scale club. Got a sub to Model Railroader as well. When I spend money, you know I am serious.  ;D

Last night we got invited to a fellow's large N scale Saluda NS layout. Because I wasn't feeling too well, which has been common for me, I just watched but my son got to run two trains. The first time he has ever run any model trains. He had a blast! He wanted to model HO scale, but last night totally clinched N scale for him. He really wants to model CSX, which is fine by me. He was going to do NS but now finds them a bit "boring".  ;D Me, I'm stuck on CR but will gladly run CSX and NS since we are going to stick with the 1990's.

I took a couple photos last night before my camera died. Ergh! I'll get them posted later on.

Anyway, just wanted to say hi. My skills and knowledge are so rusty that I am a total newbie. I'll have plenty of questions. Feels good to be a newbie!
