Some more B&O "President" Pacifics today, in storage at Benwood, WV, in August 1957.

No. 105 has the centered headlight and air pumps moved to the pilot beam, but original tender:


Those 80 inch drivers on No. 106 look might impressive up close!


No. 112 has the 12-wheel tender, but still has spoked main drivers:

In the mid 70's, the NRHS held its convention in Washington, DC.  Ran a trip from Cumberland to DC.  My friends and I jumped into my 69 Mustang and followed this special.  Here are a few shots from that day:

It seems all the train nuts and model railroaders have been purged from the DC area now, but I bet they're still around, lurking and hidden in basements ...

9950 took the place of some old PC Baldwin switchers which worked out of Benning Yard.  Hated it then but now realize how unique this unit was.  I'll post somemore photos from this trip next week.

It sounded like any other GP-7/9 with that EMD engine tucked inside.

A couple shots from St. Denis last Sunday after the BANTRAK meeting...

CSX 5453 (ES44DC) leads Q702 westbound on Track 1.  Train E725 can be seen in the distance on Track 3.



CSX 1 "Spirit of West Virginia" (AC400CW) leads E725 westbound while Q702 can still be seen in the background.



Rare sighting (well, for me anyway) of a CSX SD70ACe as CSX 4850 leads E722 westbound on Track 3.
