At least I can feel safe that you didn't put a gun to my head to start Nn3 (like On30), I did that all on my own
What Nn3 is up your sleeve?

My z scale diorama would also work for Nn3 and I came across some cheap consignments at nscalesupply, so I thought I would give it a shot.

I started this project almost 3 years ago but put it aside when we went traveling (I had stopped working on it to figure out a way to electrify the tender to help feed the electronically challenged Bachmann Northern chassis). Happily, I was able to install wheel wipers on four of the tender wheels this past week-end and got it running. It's the newest incarnation of the Northern and actually doesn't run badly when it has ample juice from the track. When I replaced the rear truck with the Delta truck, I severely handicapped an already electrically starved chassis. It's not a really good match for the original R-1-d but it's close enough for me. It looks good pulling my American Flyer coaches around the new layout. The B&M R-1-d's were, allegedly, the heaviest Mountains built in North America.

Dick
, we need for someone to make them (R-1-d's) in N scale! Not only did B&M have them, but B&O bought them when B&M Dieselized, and the L&HR had copies, too. I've got to find my photo on one on the B&O!

Gregg the B&O did not get any of the R1d's. they only got the R1a and R1b and
R1c's see link to steamlocomotive.com All R1d's were scrapped as well as the L&HR
copies of the R1d's.

Yes, classes R-1-a, b, annd c were sold to the B&O in 1947. The R-1-d's held on until September, 1956 when #4113, "Black Arrow", the last to go, was withdrawn from service. They were beautiful machines.

I agree with you Dick. They were very handsome engines. That's why I love my
R1d my Son made for me.
As a matter of fact I named my new car Black Arrow.

With Nscalekits producing the 40ft shortend Gunderson well car, I thought it was time to design the right decals. This is just the test fit for the decals and some minor changes have been made already on the decal set.
While gathering all the information on the lettering of the shortend well cars, I had to realize that they were at least 10 different versions.
I settled for two different ones. The second set will have the small 40 digits and different font for the road number etc. I still have to put in an order for an additional 40ft well car set with NScaleKits to test the second decal set.
Since I was working on the Gunderson decals, I remembered that I once downloaded pictures of an SP 5 unit well car set with unusual lettering.
I never could find any additonal information about this set but as a SP fan I just could not resist.

Finally got my converted slides make into CD's back from the processors. Have been downloading close to 200 onto my PC. Have lots of oldies to place into Proto Phtos. Otherwise I am removing some number from a few PRR locos I got on Ebay and replacing them with the older, smaller size numbers. Unfortunately I was under the weather Friday and Saturday but am making up for it now.
