According to the Atlas website, the latest double sheathed boxcars (I've got DT&I and ACL coming) and the 60 ft. automobile parts boxcars were shipped to dealers on July 30th.

Since  Chulvis is enroute to Hartford, guess I'll get my three cars in about two weeks. Looking forward to them, especially the first steam era DT&I boxcars.

I guess I should look into actually getting my FEC ones then.

Are the 60' cars correct for CR? I'd assume they are (because of the EL). I'd love some with some can-openers, since I currently have a dearth of auto-parts cars.

Are you bashing, Ed?  I don't understand this double standard.

They're not being done in CR, but I wish they were (if they should be).

I think Conrail only stenciled one of those old EL 60' ACF cars. I would like to know what happened to the rest of them...

Ah.

Well then, I'm glad the gang at Atlas is saving me from my own dumb self then.

Too bad, I'd LOVE to have some affordable (read, not MTL) CR auto parts cars. Those things were real money makers for big-blue.

Indeed.  You would think those would be no-brainers for Walthers, since they did them in HO.

The MTL 60' auto parts cars are VERY cheap undecorated... like $7.00..  at BLW (and I guess others).

I found an almost perfect Conrail freight car red:  DMcolor "ColorTool"  Terra Rosa - available at Michaels and other craft stores.  It is a PERFECT mach for the the Atlas conrail boxcar colors, which are dead on the money.

Both the double-sheaths and the 60' footers have been listed as in-stock on MB Klein's website since yesterday afternoon.

Accu-Paint makes a color called "Conrail Alkyd Brown" that is a killer color for CR cars...

I've heard about that - but the two model railroad shops here in Central NJ have not carried Accu-paint in 10-15 years!  Will definitely try to get some and try it.

This Colortool paint is really outstanding, however - the problem is that most of the colors are not too helpful. Currently experimenting with some of them. I am a Scalecoat II airbrush advocate, so you know that "paint in a can" must be something special if I am raving about it...
