Hey Chris-thanks for the better pic of the 44T-I didn't think it was the same one I saw
but stranger things have happened.
I 1st discovered LTEX offhandedly by uploading a pic of one of their re-man tunnel motors I
caught at Sterling last year. Once uploaded, RRpic archives showed LTEX was "Larry's Truck
Electric." I thought that was an unusual name for a leasing co, so I googled it & came up with
this link (that may be below somewhere too)
http://www.trainweb.org/lfnwfan/html/Larry's.htmAnyways, that planted the seed for the idea of DDDX locos, & an "on layout" plant to reman them.
A good idea to use older paint schemes/locos that don't fit the railroad you're modeling, or even
older types like F's & early geeps. (who says they got scrapped?) For example, one that's on the
"future projects" workbench now in this mode is one of those old Athearn SW7 "calfs."-Tentatively,
I plan on doing it in the Chessie scheme (as per proto photo) & then doing a "paint out" of the B&O
logo & replacing w/DDDX. Gives it a 2nd chance at life, & good help for my future yard switchers.
(Chessie didn't scrap it as most thought-it went to DDD Remanufacturing!)
Oh yeah-what does "DDD" mean (if you haven't already figured it out) Donkey's Dirty Details-I
know that, & you know that, but the HO scale people on the future layout doesn't need to know
that.
I just thought it was a very good modeling concept.
