C-50-10 Caboose

This is the other project that I've been working on whilst doing the RS-3 slug..

as per the title it should end up as the SP's one off 50-10 caboose, so far it's a stretched Atlas EV caboose underframe with new steps and a new bodysides.

thanks..should be rather unique. More piccies in my photo album, but not much more to see yet. I'm waiting on some more parts from Atlas to speed this one up. I decided not to reinvent the wheel! :)

I'm going to use Lee's technique of the circuit pen on the wheels to get power to this one, (obviously the trucks in here here are totally wrong, and are just there for checking distances.

I finally got the parts I need to continue with this project, so I cracked on. Sadly I had to cut up an undec caboose rather than jsut a shell from the parts dept, but never mind.

I took an Atlas EV caboose shell, cut away the sides and the and then shortend the roof by cutting along the red lines:



The shortened roof looks like:



and the job for another night is to shorten the roof still further by cutting on the  red lines near the ends.

Nope we won one and the Germans the other (and the Championship) photos from the event in my album soon. :)

Nice to see black up there. Hey at least the flag on the side of the car has a Union Jack in the top left corner! It just has errr um some red stars on the rest of it! ;D ;D

No progress on the caboose, spent all Saturday doing chores, and then was out 6am to 10:30pm Sunday. :)

I did cut some styrene to finish the other side of the BCOL slug though.

Some progress tonight! I decided not to make new ends for the caboose, but to instead reuse the atlas ones after modification.

In the shots below the roof still need shortening, and has only been placed on the model




The truck on the left has been modified to match the prototype one, and thus has had the centre spring removed.
